HISPANICS IN SEARCH OF THE AMERICAN DREAM

HISPANICS IN SEARCH OF THE AMERICAN DREAM

Hello, Hispanics:

My name is Claudia Carbonell. I was born in Colombia and I've been in the United States for 29 years. Several years ago, I started reflecting on Hispanics in search of the American Dream. We all come to the United States with so many goals and aspirations but soon we find a terrible reality: this is a hard country. Not only because it is very demanding and competitive, but also because most of us don't know the language and we lack connections and knowledge on how to market ourselves. These force us to accept a burden that destroys so many lives: to take any job, anything that allows us to survive. Keeping aflote is our new reality and soon we forget our dreams. We give up our Search for that American Dream which brought us here. And the price tag was to leave our life behind: Our home country, family, friends, culture and perhaps even a rewarding career.
I've traveled a similar path and now I want to make it easier to Hispanics to conquer the Dream that ignited inside of them. Show them it is possible to live their dreams. To live with purpose. To be that Hispanic that makes a difference.
