DIRECTOR OF COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS NEEDED!
Position summary: Works in partnership with Guitar Centers leadership to design, develop, and manage compensation, benefits, reward and recognition programs and strategies. Makes recommendations and implements compensation programs which control costs, are market competitive, and improve efficiency to attract and retain qualified employees. Ensures all programs are in compliance with established internal controls, governance standards, regulatory requirements, policies and programs. This position will be hands on with strategic day to day execution of program administration and issue resolution.
Compensation Programs and Systems
Develops base and variable pay structures, incentives and bonus programs, and administrative guidelines based on business needs and objectives.
Provides recommendations for the alignment of compensation plans, policies and programs to support Guitar Centers employment brand, total rewards philosophy, and the current and long-range goals and objectives of Guitar Center. Ensures the effective delivery of compensation plans and programs.
Partner with HR team members to identify and address current and emerging total compensation trends and issues.
Recommends improvements to the performance management process from a compensation standpoint.
Counsels management on policy/procedural issues, including promotional increases, salary adjustments, overtime administration, survey results etc.
Serves as the internal consultant on compensation best practices, industry trends, legislative issues and market competitiveness. Researches, understands and stays current on market competitiveness as these relate to total compensation. Develops innovative solutions.
Oversees compensation administration including directing job analysis and evaluation, position description development, market pricing and salary survey initiatives.
Drives the analysis of and reviews compensation related data, including budget/ financial, utilization, and associate demographics information to make informed decisions relating to compensation strategies and plans.
Work with issues regarding the administration of equity programs
Interacts with Finance department on a variety of responsibilities including bonus programs.
Directs and develops effective compensation communication strategies, methods and materials that can be understood by all levels within the company.
Diagnoses organizational compensation issues, identifying compensation requirements and developing compensation solutions to support the attraction and retention of employees.
Work closely with legal in drafting equity award agreements.
Develop and Implement Benefits Systems and Programs
Oversees the design and plan analysis of enterprise benefits programs, policies, and procedures for employees nationwide. Monitor benefits usage, trends and recommend plan changes that meet the needs of employees and are cost effective. Work with brokers to renegotiate benefit plans.
Evaluate with IT the effectiveness of benefit systems and recommend process improvements to ensure that all benefit systems are maintained an d updated and the information is accurate.
Work with outside consultants, as required, participating in the design and development of HR technology tools in support of global compensation/benefits planning.
Audit Plan 5500s.
Provide leadership, guidance, and skills development to Benefits Manager and team.
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
Bachelors degree or equivalent work experience in Human Resources. Masters degree in Business Administration or Human Resources preferred. Seven or more years HR experience, five years of compensation experience, or compensation consulting experience. Three to five years experience in a leadership role managing direct reports required.
Experience obtained through high level consultative, program administration and/or project management/facilitation accountabilities.
Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to regularly interface with senior management.
Ability to engage with and influence at all levels.
Strong technical skills: Excel (advanced level), PowerPoint highly preferred.
Knowledge of Saba desired.
Flexible and adaptable, able to work under pressure and handle multiple highly sensitive issues.
Collaboration skills; ability to work effectively on a team.
Strong communication and presentation skills.
High professional standards regarding confidentiality and quality of work.
Demonstrated success with major cross-functional, cross-geographic project teams, program implementations and/or systems implementations or integrations.
Strong analytical skills and ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing.
Knowledge of state and federal and local laws governing compensation & benefits practices. Comprehensive knowledge of compensation and benefit plan design, administration, practices, as well as state and federal laws. Certified Compensation Professional (CCP) and Certified Benefits Specialist (CEBS) designation a plus.
Previous experience in the design, implementation and administration of compensation programs.
Industry specific knowledge impacting compensation program design and delivery.
Exceptional analytical abilities, strong project management, negotiation and relationship building skills required.
