Food prices in the U.S. are expected to stay high through 2012, due in part to a wet spring that will likely cut the size of this fall's corn harvest.  On the other side cotton has the opposte problem, where Texas has suffered through a drought hindering the plants growth.  Rain delayed planting schedules and will most likely lead to diminshed harvest time in September.  More expensive grain directly lead to higher food prices this year.  With the shortage on cotton reaching dangerous levels, companies like Levi Strauss & Co and Guess Inc. have begun looking for alternatives to cotton.  What are your thoughts, have you noticed the increase of food prices this year?  ...

I watched a recorded show on Oprah today (it aired yesterday 1/27/10.) They were talking about the negatives of processed foods, grain-fed cattle vs. grass-fed cattle, and the over use of Antibiotics in the animals we eat. There is a movie out called "FoodInc" that helps to shed some light: http://www.foodincmovie.com/ Within this link is a trailer to the movie. Very enlightening. Most farmers pump up chickens with antibiotics to get them to grow bigger, fatter, faster, and cheaper but it's horrible for us. Same goes for grain-fed cattle; grass-fed cattle is healtier for us and has way more nutrients.... Do we want to pay more $$$ at the Doctors office or do we want to spend a little more at the grocery store??? Food for thought right? Fact: Americans are sicker & fatter, with more cancer & diabetes than ever before! And, it's not even about switching to a vegetarian or a vegan lifestyle ~great if you are like some of us~, but it's about removing processed foods from your diets, and eating HEALTHY meats that are fed natural foods, like grass! (which is...

I had a great time, and as always I made sure to sneak in my favorite seafood joint for some tasty CRAWFISH! I stop by this little place every time I visit NOLA on my way home from the airport. I discovered this little Whole in the Wall Seafood restaurant many years ago and I have decided to announce that they have the BEST CRAWFISH in the city! Even though I ate well worth my weight in crawfish the day I landed, I just HAD to take some back with me on the plane to Los Angeles...but how? Victoria, the sweet and helpful lady behind the counter, gave me her cell phone #, and said she would pack some up for me in a leak proof box to take on the plane either by check-in or carry-on. I was a little skeptical how it was going to work and all seeing as I Googled "How to transport crawfish via airline" and I read some pretty detailed posts ranging from: an ice chest to dry ice to not being able to b/c of airport security. Anyway, it worked! She packed it...
