Emergency Medical Technician Officer

Position: Security Response Officer-CT EMT, Firefighter and Hazardous Material certifications required

General Job Description:

The Security Response Officer is Clients first line of defense against risks to property and personnel. It is this officer who most often will be first to detect unusual events that may escalate into major adverse situations. This officer will also be the first to respond to various emergencies that pose a risk of serious harm to persons and property. It is the ability of the officer to act decisively and thoroughly that will minimize the impact to the site and persons therein.

At the same time the Security Response Officer is an outward and visible symbol of Security professionalism and ability. The officer is often the first contact that a visitor will have with Client and the facility. It is therefore of paramount importance that the officers carry out their duties with courtesy, tact, and respect for people.

Due to the nature of work in which officers will be involved; the description of this position is by nature diverse and involved. Emergency Services Officers shall report directly to the Client Contract Site or Shift Supervisor.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities

1. Read, understand and carry out Post Order information and specifications.

2. Direct visitors and others to appropriate resources and areas within the facility as needed. Assist Client and other personnel as requested.

3. Perform security patrols in accordance with Post Orders and procedures.

4. Maintain property control. Use logs where indicated to accurately record property control information.

5. Monitor and patrol parking areas to insure compliance with parking regulations.

6. Maintain current and accurate knowledge of the facility for patrol, emergency response, and personnel assistance purposes.

7. Monitor and report on weather conditions that may have an adverse effect at the facility.

8. Report all incidents, safety hazards, accidents, unusual events, maintenance problems, or other instances of concern in accordance with applicable procedures and Post Orders.

9. Investigate and report any suspicious persons or activities at the facility.

10. Assist local law enforcement and fire department personnel as needed when circumstances direct or indicate their presence at the facility.

11. Provide standby emergency support and assist with fire department.

12. Update oncoming shift personnel regarding information pertinent to the conduct of shift operations.

13. Monitor and regulate vehicle traffic to insure safe conduct.

14. Respond to medical emergencies and provide initial emergency care to patients.

15. Respond to fire emergencies and establish contact with scene command.

16. Coordinate response to emergencies by outside agencies utilizing Security Control Station as needed.

17. Maintain a neat appearance and physical fitness necessary to perform job tasks.

18. Respond to alarms as directed by Security Control Station.

19. Write clear and concise reports detailing incidents or emergencies at the facility.

20. Work within an established chain of command for the purpose of receiving assignments, performing job tasks, and reporting incidents or occurrences at the facility.

21. Coordinate and liaison with Client Security Department personnel assigned to the facility.

22. Use communication skills effectively to relay information and direct personnel when compliance with rules and procedures is required.
