JOB DESCRIPTION
As a Physician Assistant in the Medical Service Corps, you will help care for Sailors and Marines and their families. Providing about 80% of the services physician counterparts may provide. Overseeing other members of the medical team. Gaining experience that goes beyond the usual routine:

Obtain medical histories, perform comprehensive exams and treat minor injuries
Interpret lab tests and X-rays, counsel patients, prescribe medications and carry out treatment plans
Practice in primary care areas or surgical specialties
Work in military hospitals and clinics on U.S. soil, overseas, aboard ships and with special operational units
Assist in Navy medical relief missions worldwide
Train in emerging need areas such as emergency medicine, rural medicine and family practice
Get easy access to continued education courses and recertification requirements

QUALIFICATIONS
To qualify for an Active Duty Physician Assistant position in the Navy Medical Service Corps, you must:

Be a U.S. citizen or a foreign citizen currently practicing in the U.S. (contact a Navy Officer Recruiter for details)
Have a bachelors degree from an accredited college or university
Be a current student or have completed a Physician Assistant Program approved by the Committee on Allied Health Education and Accreditation (CAHEA)
Be certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA)
Be willing to serve a minimum of three years of Active Duty
Be between the ages of 18 and 42
Be in good physical condition and pass a full medical examination
