We have an excellent opportunity for a Project Coordinator in our Cause Communications department at the National Center based in Dallas, TX.The Project Coordinator, Cause Communications will assist in implementing and executing media and public relations plan for the American Heart Association's Go Red Corazn, a new initiative to help raise awareness among Hispanic women of their No. 1 killer, heart disease. While working collaboratively with senior managers in Cause Communications, other appropriate core team members and PR agency, the Project Coordinator will help develop tools and information to successfully promote Go Red Corazn among consumers via national and local media outlets. This position will also have responsibilities for Go Red For Women, the association's solution to save women's lives. Selected candidate will respond to media requests and AHA field staff inquiries, manage survivor and spokesperson database, perform administrative functions and ensure Go Red For Women and Go Red Corazn presence in AHA organization-wide assets, such as Web site homepage and AHA's internal communication channels. Additional responsibilities include, but are not limited to, facilitating internal approval process and review of news releases and media materials, managing logistics for physician and celebrity spokespeople (both Spanish-speaking and general market) and processing vendor payments, contracts and travel expenses.' Bachelor's degree in journalism, communications or public relations or related field preferred.' Minimum of 2 years experience in public relations/media relations, journalism, marketing and/or advertising.' Fluent in Spanish ' both oral and written proficiency.' Proficiency in MS Office applications.' Demonstrated proficiency in media writing and editing for consumer and/or health industry.' Demonstrated success in media relations and pitching abilities' Experience managing relationships with public relations firms and other vendors.' Great interpersonal skills, team player and demonstrated, strong communications skills.' Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines, with minimal supervision.' Ability to interact with all levels of staff, professionals and the general public.'
