Job Summary:
AVP, Underwriting Political Risk and Trade Credit
We are looking to fill a senior level position as a political risk and trade credit underwriter in our Surety Credit and Political Risk Group. Since 1997, this group has been providing risk solutions to multinational corporations, exporters, banks and institutional investors who do business in emerging markets. We are a recognized leader in the field having recently won Trade Finance Magazine's Best Private Insurer award for the eighth consecutive year. This position is based in Washington, DC and will work with brokers and clients primarily in the United States and Canada.
Responsibilities
The person hired will analyze and underwrite new and renewal political and trade
credit risks primarily in emerging markets. He/she will structure and negotiates complex risk solutions and work within broad limits and authority on highly complex assignments.
Job responsibilities include marketing Zurichs' products and services through new and existing clients and the brokerage community and developing and maintaining these relationships.
Some domestic and international travel will be required (10-20% of time).Job Qualifications:
10+ years of insurance industry experience with focus on Political Risk and Trade Credit a plus but will also consider corporate or financial sector experience with exposure to emerging markets. Preferred experience: credit analysis, contract negotiation, contract drafting, country analysis. Relationships with corporate clients, banks and other financial institutions.
BA required. MBA or MA in Economics or International Relations strongly preferred. Relevant experience in a global environment required. Any foreign language skills, particularly Spanish skills, preferred. Strong MS Office skills required.
