Job Description
Job Summary and Mission:
As the Bank Risk Officer("BRO") UBS Bank USA,("Bank") you will be responsible for the monitoring and assessment of all risk in all loan and investment portfolios managed by UBS Bank USA. The BRO with the support of the Risk Assessment team, also has responsibility for the identification and assessment of relevant Operational Risks within the Bank.
Key Responsibilities:
The BRO for UBS Bank USA serves as part of the Market Risk Control function and is responsible for the independent monitoring, proactive identification and assessment of portfolio risks and concentration risks in all portfolios managed by UBS Bank USA.
This includes the monitoring of all relevant limits established for UBS Bank USA (Value at Risk, Stress Loss and Issuer Risk exposure as well as any relevant Operational limits)
Determine that market risks are within the firm's defined and approved risk capacity
Act as the "Entity Market Risk Officer" for UBS Bank USA
Verification of trading PnL in cooperation with the trading desk
Reporting of Risk exposures within UBS Bank USA and within the Market Risk function and hereby ensures that the risk profile reported is consistent with the risks undertaken in the business
Analysis of significant exposures and/or valuation swings and reporting
Analysis of the overall impact of proposed transactions and/or hedging strategies
Review of valuation models and risk methodologies used by UBS Bank USA and review of relevant model assumptions (i.e. pre-payment risk assumptions etc.)
Review and approve requests for temporary limit extensions according to assigned authority levels
Review and approve new business proposals from UBS Bank USA according to assigned authority levels
The BRO liaises with investment officers, business unit control and other UBS Risk Control units for a comprehensive understanding of the business and overall risk exposure
The BRO for UBS Bank USA also has responsibility for the identification, assessment and reporting of Operational Risks and works with the Business functions to continuously improve processes and procedures as well as the effectiveness of controls to reduce exposures to Operational Risk. For the assessment of Operational Risk, the BRO will get support from the WMA Risk Assessment team
Verifies that business functions have complete and effective risk management processes in place to manage and mitigate operational risk
Assessment of operational risk with a focus on cross-functional implications
Advising the business on all relevant aspects of the Operational Risk Framework
The BRO UBS Bank USA further actively follows financial market development and assesses risks and their (potential) impact on existing positions or businesses
Reviews and develops policies and procedures to implement an effective risk control environment
The BRO stays informed about actual development of Credit Risk exposure, margin calls etc.
Requirements
Requirements:
Strong knowledge of markets (with an emphasis on fixed income markets) as well as their liquidity and reputation risks
Strong quantitative skills and an excellent understanding of risk management tools and structures in a market risk environment including underlying assumptions, limitations and their impact on hedging and risk representation
Valuation of Fixed Income products
Strong knowledge of banking processes (overall)
A proven ability to work independently in a challenging environment, comfortable with working on multiple activities simultaneously. Willingness and ability to take personal ownership and work on a tight schedule where required
7 to 10 years industry experience with at least 5 years in a "Fixed Income role"
