SENIOR LECTURER, MUSIC AND THEATER ARTS
MASSACHUSETTS INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY
Qualifications: MFA/PhD/DFA or equivalent professional experience
Responsibilities: Teaching four courses per year and directing one fully-produced production per year or teaching five courses per year, based on departmental needs / Shared mentoring
Starting Date: Summer/Fall 2010

Call for Applications:
The MIT Music and Theater Arts Section seeks an inspired master teacher and respected artist to join MIT's internationally-renowned faculty at the rank of Senior Lecturer. The successful candidate will demonstrate significant teaching experience and a deep commitment to excellence in undergraduate education in the performing arts. While the Section seeks a Senior Lecturer whose focus will be in part on traditional practices in acting and directing, a demonstrable interest in cross-disciplinary collaborations and contemporary hybrid forms is highly desirable. Responsibilities: teaching four courses per year and directing one fully-produced production per year or teaching five courses per year, based on departmental needs; courses may include Introduction to Acting, Script Analysis, Introduction to Directing, Fundamentals of Theater Practice and other courses as required; shared mentoring of students pursuing majors, minors, or concentrations in Theater Arts and Dance; mentoring at least one workshop production per year; and actively contributing to the continued growth of the Music and Theater Arts Section. Opportunities to develop new courses across departments and disciplines and to pursue research are both available and encouraged. Senior Lecturers are appointed to a five year contract which is renewable by review. The Music and Theater Arts Section expects the successful candidate will make significant contributions to the Section, the Institute and to the profession. MFA, PhD, DFA or equivalent professional experience required.
Materials requested include: letter of application that speaks to the candidate's philosophy of teaching, CV, three letters of recommendation, and samples of work.
