Description:
System Operator is the highest operating position within the FPL System Control Center and is responsible for the operations of FPL Power Coordinators and Load Dispatchers. This position is in the Lead Professional Role. A System Operator has the responsibility and authority to direct and implement real-time actions to ensure the stable and reliable operation of the Bulk Electric System. Such actions include shedding of firm load to prevent or alleviate System Operating Limit (SOL) or Interconnection Reliability Operating Limit (IROL) violations. These actions are performed as required without obtaining approval from higher-level personnel within FPL. System Operators are responsible for complying with NERC/FRCC reliability standards and FERC Standards of Conduct. The position's purpose is to supervise all activities within the FPL System Control Center. These include: maintaining reliability of the FPL transmission system according to FRCC and NERC reliability standards and FPL operating practices; evaluate and process generation, transmission and substation equipment clearance requests consistent with system reliability the commitment and dispatch of available generation resources as required by the system load, interchange, and reserve requirements for the security and economical operation of the system while minimizing production cost; overseeing the processing of requests for transmission service via FPL's OASIS system and the scheduling of all interchange transactions by the FPL Power Coordinators; informing management of emergencies affecting the reliability or economics of the power system; train other System Operators, Power Coordinators and Division Load Dispatchers to meet the requirements of NERC / FRCC / FPL system operations; supervise and direct all daily operational activities of Division Load Dispatchers; fulfill the requirements of the FRCC Reliability Coordinator Agent functions per the FRCC Reliability Process for the Bulk Power Electric System. Qualifications: NERC Certified System Operator - Reliability is required, Internal FPL Certification as FPL System Operator and Bachelors Degree in Engineering is desirable.
Qualifications:
NERC Certified System Operator - Reliability is required. (i.e. NERC RC Certified)
Must have Power System Operating experience.
Must pass internal FPL Certification as FPL System Operator within 6 months. Bachelors Degree in Engineering is desirable.
Position may be filled at a lower level.
