Carol H. Williams Advertising is presently conducting searches for all levels of account services for either our Chicago, Illinois OR our Emeryville California location on multicultural and urban targeted accounts.
The brand categories we cover include banking/finance; resort/hotel; beauty/cosmetics, packaged goods; pharmaceuticals; government/military and entertainment.
Experience in these brand categories is required within the credentials of the ideal candidates we seek, however experience at a nationally or regionally recognized advertising agency or account management expertise is essential regardless to the categories worked on. We require that your experience encompass advertising produced for clients utilizing all types of media including broadcast television and radio, print, online and collateral.
Responsibilities:
The ideal Account Executive candidate has at least 3 or more solid years of advertising agency account management experience, has worked for the past 1-2 years at minimum as an A/E, pays strict attention to detail in the work process, has an understanding of the AA/Urban Consumer and can communicate and articulate this target to the client. This position requires strategic thinking, strong writing ability, excellent communications skills and the ability to solidly and reliably support senior managers.

You can manage projects, are a team-player and collaborative individual in the work environment, keep your managers and team members informed of all related business details. This candidate can manage the client's expectations professionally, loves servicing the team as well as their client and takes a personal stake in the work you produce and has a passion for great advertising account service. You also are someone who works hard on team assignments and is a collaborative team-member that can be relied on to put 110% towards your assignments (this is advertising after all).
The ability to manage projects confidently, sometimes with little supervision but lots of initiative and drive, not afraid to ask questions and learn as well as putting effort into the work you produce to create excellent results is how you work. A knowledge of the AA/Urban consumer is essential for consideration of this opportunity. Being articulate about the AA/Urban consumer is a huge plus; you should be comfortable with high-level client contact in the assigned category and be capable of articulating messages to them as an agency representative.
Additional responsibilities include:
o Under supervisor, can coordinate the development of the communications plan (or strategic review) in accordance with the client's objectives and budgets, including a positioning statement and brand character statement.
o Consult with Creative, Media and Account Management to communicate client objectives and to develop alternative strategic solutions.
o Prepareand receive client approval of Job Orders with sufficient information so other agency staff can complete client projects in an effective and timely manner.
oDevelop timetable for client projects in conjunction with the other members of the account team.
o Supporting the Account Supervisor, guide the day-to-day development of all client projects. Insure that progressive steps in the process are approved with adequate time to meet schedules.
o Keep agency personnel informed of client requests and changes, including Finance, Creative and Production, regarding revisions in the areas of production estimates, creative executions and production schedules.
o Review all media and creative work prior to submitting to the client for approval.
o Obtain all required client approvals.
o Coordinate with the Media, Creative and Production members of the account team to insure all media deadlines and rotation schedules are accurate and up to date.
o Transmit billing to the client after checking for accuracy and reviewing against estimate and making sure any changes in billing are properly documented and informed to client and agency.
o Prepare timesheets once a week, at a minimum.
o Supervise the day-to-day activities of the Account Coordinators or AAE's assigned to your account.
o Participates in New Business activities as assigned.
o Participates in all other business development activities and other projects, as assigned.
o Other duties and projects, as assigned.
Performance Standards:
o Client satisfaction ratings are high. No major misunderstandings or problems exist between agency and client. As problems arise, they are proactively and satisfactorily dealt with in accordance with company policy.
oClient marketing and advertising objectives are achieved.
oAnnual communication plans are prepared and approved by clients.
o Annual competitive media spending and creative message review is presented to client.
oAll Job Orders are approved by clients.
oAll estimates are approved by clients.
oClients are profitable.
oAgency staff morale is positive toward clients.
oTimesheets are completed and turned in at least once a week.
Position Qualifications:
Bachelors degree or higher level of education with an emphasis on marketing/advertising or media communications
2-5 years of relative advertising agency experience for a nationally recognized advertising agency on nationally recognized brands; has worked on brands that are currently running ads on broadcast television, radio, in print and interactive, preferably with an emphasis in Events, PR, Promotions, Experential Marketing, grass-roots awareness and progressively measured communications and outreach programs.
Ability to partner successfully and collaboratively in a highly creative and passionate environment and maintain positive work relationships and professionalism at all times
A team-builder as well as a team-player, a hard-working attitude with lots of integrity; thorough knowledge of the advertising discipline and gives 110% effort, with a smile and gets the job done with pride for your clients and cooperation for your colleagues
Excellent presentation skills; can articulate clearly, convincingly and effectively within the creative advertising agency/client environment
Experience and/or understanding of the African American consumer market is a plus but experience and a strong understanding of the multicultural/urban consumer market is essential for this position. Strategic thinking with the ability to upsell convincingly and communicate market research and other data as provided in the overall assignments is essential.
