POSITION SUMMARY:

The Assistant Retail Operations Manager for Ben and Jerry's will assist the Gift Store & Scoop Program Manager and Assistant Managers in the Waterbury Hospitality retail operations of Gift, Scoop and Tours, including the planning, operations, marketing and financial reporting of this location. Create and sustain a best-in-class guest experience that communicates our brands personality and message. This position is located in Waterbury, VT.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Work with the Waterbury team to ensure that the implementation of all systems fully support and comply with the operating systems put forth by the Gift, Scoop and Tour Managers.

Direct the gift and scoop shop staff, ranging from 15 to 80 employees, with a strong emphasis on ensuring that the appropriate staff is available to service our fluctuating business needs.

Assist the Store Managers in the hiring and orientation of staff. Conduct in-store training and performance evaluation for all Gift Leads and Hosts, with an added emphasis on ergonomics and safety for all work functions.

Direct day to day operations including store and staff appearance, proper cash handling procedures, customer service, cleanliness, compliance with all safety and operating standards, merchandising and product presentation and inventory levels of all merchandise.

Work with managers to insure the store opening and closing activities are properly executed.

Comprehend all daily and weekly financial reporting requirements established by the Managers, to include daily sales and deposit records, daily inventory logs, purchasing, paid out and monthly transfer logs.

Assist the Managers in communicating with internal and external customers, contractors and suppliers, as requested.

Comprehend maintaining inventory and cash register control systems, updating with new items, price changes, Price Look Up (PLU) files and flipcharts. (Data Works, Sirius, Micros)

Have extensive knowledge in the end of the month inventory count and financial month closing process.

Work with managers on store operating plans and budgets including sales projections, operating expenses, inventory requirements and margin and performance goals.

Assist in the development, testing, analysis and implementation of innovative marketing and operational concepts, which may include menu items, new products, merchandising and other store operations.

Work with Marketing Department to source and maintain gift selection that represents our band and achieves financial goals.

Identify opportunities to enhance the guest experience through strategic planning and vision and evaluate options based on financial analyses, RIO and opportunity for growth.

Work closely with the Marketing Department to brand image and messaging and ideas to effectively convey them.

Ensure that the Social Mission is fully integrated into all areas of Hospitality.

Work with managers to insure that the development of all staff maximizes performance and development through the use of the Performance Development Planning (PDP) process and ongoing coaching and development.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

High school diploma or GED

4+ years of food service/retail/hospitality experience with a minimum of 1 year supervisory management experience.

Strong financial accounting experience.

Proven project management experience in leading projects with cross-functional teams.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Demonstrated resourcefulness in the evaluation of company operations.

Computer proficiency, esp. Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Windows NT, and Outlook.

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Lifting up to 17 pounds is required.

General cleaning and maintenance required.

Standing for up to 8 hours per day required.
