Job Description: 

The Specialty Markets Review Manager is a key member of the Credit Review Team shared risk management responsibilities between the Line of Business, Strategy and Risk Management. They carry primary responsibility for leadership of an independent credit review team focused on the Specialty Segments of the Commercial Loan Portfolio charged with ensuring the integrity of the risk grading system, ensure that policies and processes are being adhered to, and to proactively escalate to management key risks as identified.

Incumbent is expected to provide viewpoints, to spot trends/risks/gaps/weaknesses in process, underwriting and overall portfolio/industry concentrations prior to deterioration; ensure that all exam reports are published in a timely manner with key issues identified; "no surprises- within specific line of business/geographic focus; is further expected to include an assessment of the overall commercial loan portfolio quality in addition to the current portfolio segment assessments. They provide expertise in credit, industry assessment, pricing, analysis, and loan structure. They carry responsibility for the communication and enforcement as well as recommendation for changes to policy and process for their specific markets. They are expected to interact effectively with internal stakeholders to facilitate the total client relationship and provide value added influence and support.


Requirements: 

- Minimum of 12 years of banking experience (preferably in portfolio management or credit review).
- Minimum of 10 years directly involved in Commercial lending/risk management with at least 18 months of related sales.
- Minimum of 5 years direct Management experience with demonstrated success.
- Demonstrated quantitative and qualitative analytics.
- Excellent interpersonal communication and time management skills.
- Multi-tasked, creative, problem solver, demonstrated attention to detail, goal oriented team player.
- Strong organizational and logic skills required.
- Thorough understanding of Regulatory framework governing Commercial Banking.
- Working knowledge of RBC Bank Operating Systems, RBC Bank loan policies and procedures.
- Independent Decisioner with Positive Pro-Business Attitude required.
- Ability to function without daily oversight, must be self-motivated and self disciplined.
- If Internal Employee: No factor rated less than "A- on most recent performance review.
Required:
College Degree (concentration in Finance or Accounting preferred).
Succession completion of additional job-related courses:
- AIB Introduction to Commercial Lending
- AIB Principles of Banking
- AIB Introduction to Real Estate Lending
- AIB Analyzing Financial Statements
- AIB Analyzing Personal Financial Statements and Tax Returns
- Advanced Commercial Lending
- Omega Commercial Loans to Small Businesses
             -or- Successful completion of Year 1 and 2 of Commercial Lending
             School at ECU or LSU.


Key Accountabilities: 

This position is expected to:

? Provide overall direction of credit review of the bank's Speciality Segments of the Commercial loan portfolio to include all line of business segments (KBI, PIB, Private Banking, GGL/SBA, Corporate Banking, and Community Development)
o Provide overall direction for ongoing continuous monitoring, including collaborative partnering to define key business drivers with each stakeholder.
o Provide overall direction for targeted product reviews.
o Provide overall direction for segment reviews based on
emerging risk and identified gaps.
? Provide assurance to management that major problem credits have been correctly identified and are being managed effectively.
? Monitor compliance with the bank's loan policy and procedures and provide management with recommendations for revisions to policy and/or procedures when appropriate.
? Maintains a strong working relation with Account Managers and Regional Executives to acceptable monitoring, structure of loans that will meet banks goals/objectives.
? Communicates adherence to risk policies and processes.
? Represents RBC Bank and Credit Review in market place, and with clients (internal and external).
? Realizes team synergies through networking and partnerships across RBC and by seeking out diversity of viewpoints.
? Embraces change, acting as an advocate and role model and promoting a mindset of continuous improvement.
? Participates in monthly Watch List, Emerging Risk and Portfolio Reviews with Account Managers and Regional Executives and represent the region in the monthly RBC Bank Watch List Meetings.
? Expected to attend market meetings as scheduled to keep abreast of sales efforts, goals, and pipeline along with Business Plan challenges.
? Expected to aggressively identify weak loans where possible, ensuring referral to Special Loans Group when appropriate; involving ARG as early as Business Consultants to avoid referral to ARG.
? Expected to attend a minimum of one sales meeting a quarter with agenda time allotted for discussion of issues/concerns/trends as well as providing/arranging to address and rectify training gaps identified.
? Recommend and implement continuous improvements and enhancements to Credit Review policies and procedures.
