SENIOR DEVELOPMENT SCIENTIST - Beckman Coulter, Inc. (Miami, Florida)

Beckman Coulter develops, manufactures and markets products that simplify, automate and innovate complex biomedical testing. Purpose of the Position: Responsible for research and/or development of flow cytometry application test kits and procedures, and hematology analyzer and flow cytometry reagents and procedures in a team environment. Performs experiments independently after receiving general direction from supervisor. Makes detailed observations, analyzes data and interprets results. Prepares experimental protocol, data summaries, experimental and technical reports. Maintains and develops skills in cellular analysis and company technology through reading of internal reports and scientific literature.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (other duties may be assigned):
Design, perform and analyze experiments to characterize the performance of products relative to product performance and customer requirements.
Perform the optimization and characterization of product design and manufacturing processes.
Perform internal verification of product performance.
Design, characterize and validate test methods.
Design and perform stability testing protocols.
Identify, invent, develop and implement effective solutions to technical issues based on scientific knowledge, evaluation of the scientific literature, and laboratory research.
Preparation of documents, including data summaries, technical reports, lab, manufacturing and QC procedures.
Interact and consult with inter-departmental team members.

Supervisory Responsibilities: Primarily an individual contributor, but may supervise one or more Development Scientist-level employees to achieve project objectives.

Education and Experience: Bachelor of Science (B.S.), Master of Science (M.S.) or Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in immunology, chemistry, biology or a related field or equivalent, with a minimum of 5 years experience with a Bachelors, 3 years with a Masters or 2 years with a PhD, and demonstrated
working knowledge of scientific principles. Experience in FLOW CYTOMETRY required; Hematology product development a plus.
