PRIMARY PURPOSE OF POSITION
Manages sourcing and category management tasks for materials or services Category(ies) to ensure high availability, appropriate supplier base and quality at the lowest possible total cost.

Acts as an Exelon liaison to outside suppliers, both current and potential.

Creates a unifying vision, strategy, and process for the service or material Category(ies). Quickly assesses customer needs as well as those of the broader organization, to see ??the big picture, and effectively anticipates needs and barriers. Creates a structure and process to execute the category vision.

Manages the supply chain processes for a given commodity or service category including but not limited to the development of contracting, labor, risk mitigation to ensure continuity, e-business, diversity, inventory and cost reduction strategies, such that the category effectiveness and efficiency are continually improved.

Leads the management of the supplier relationship strategy and supplier performance.

Leads all personnel and activities required to execute the category strategy, including directing the coordination of resources across associated categories and overall organization, maintaining and driving sourcing/procurement best practices.

Leads the organizational focus on, and attainment of, Exelon business units and Supplys business goals and objectives related to the category of spend

Leads in activities for promoting diversity for the category (ies) of spend, both in the workplace and in the supplier base

Works closely with Supply Operations and business units to identify and resolve issues related to the Suppliers overall delivery of services and or materials to meet business needs

Identifies, and facilitates the implementation of new supply chain process improvement initiatives.

Supports an environment that fosters a high performance culture and a learning organization.

Seeks feedback on performance and opportunities for continuous improvement.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES

Develop and implement the category strategy, including defining and maintaining a formal category business plan, maintaining the sourcing group profile through networking, market research and analysis, and ensuring alignment with business unit objectives. Execute the seven step sourcing process (including use of eSourcing tools). Develop and achieve strategic goals and objectives for the Category(ies) and other business focus areas. Responsible to achieve Exelon savings and supplier diversity goals and objectives. Maintain accountability for category savings and diversity targets and performance measures.

Drive TCO (Total Cost of Ownership) process improvements to reduce costs (during and in-between sourcing initiatives); own `should cost?? model(s). Participate in make vs. buy decisions. Develop implementation plans. Identify resource requirements (Supply, other orgs). Lead process improvement initiatives.

Establish master material and service agreements (blanket contracts). Lead or participate in periodic special project initiatives. Also accountable for category purchases (including tactical); become involved on an as-needed bases to resolve emergent issues.


Develop and implement appropriate KPIs and manage Suppliers and initiatives to assure satisfactory performance for Exelon services/materials Category(ies). Communicate to Supply and BU leadership to assure appropriate level of information flow. Establish and manage supplier alliance process and own/manage all supplier relationships. Lead all supplier relationship development programs and suppler alliance periodic meetings.

Define and drive implementation of sourcing and category best practices across Exelon. Define and enforce standard procurement/sourcing practices to improve overall effectiveness of Exelons category spend. Stay abreast of current trends and best practices in procurement; share opportunities for improvement with stakeholders and secure sponsorship to continuously improve.

Lead personnel (both within and external to Supply) to achieve objectives across related categories and/or across multiple sourcing initiatives. Prioritize competing needs and assign tasks to support strategic sourcing initiatives and other Supply projects, as appropriate.

POSITION SPECIFICATIONS
Minimum:
Bachelors Degree in Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field.

Three to five years of related experience including experience at supervisory / managerial or technical expert level and demonstrated category expertise.

Ability to effectively navigate in a support organization: balance competing priorities while building and maintaining productive relationships. Ability to constructively manage conflict among stakeholders.

Ability to grasp technical and business requirements and communicate effectively with business unit personnel in order to meet customer expectations.

Ability to meet and exceed customer requirements while managing multiple projects and competing priorities, including the ability to present and defend positions before executive audiences.

Demonstrated command of Category(ies) and supply management practices and concepts. Demonstrated understanding of entire supply chain and cost drivers.

Demonstrated data analysis capability and the ability to evaluate financial impacts of sourcing decisions.

Excellent negotiation, conflict management and communication skills. Ability to challenge clients and leadership effectively where appropriate. Strong ability to hold Suppliers accountable for performance.

Strong understanding of contract terms and conditions.

Ability to lead individuals and teams in accomplishing the Exelon vision and values.

Preferred:
Masters Degree.

Detailed specific category expertise.

Demonstrated understanding of entire Exelon supply chain and cost drivers.

CPM.

POSITION SCOPE
Manages sourcing of one or more categories of highly technical or complex materials or services.

Has a high level of independent decision making authority while performing typical job duties.

Manages material or service category spend of that may exceed $100 million annually along with consideration of total process life cycle costs.

Has responsibility for achieving corporate savings, budget, business plan, and diversity goals.

Actions could have significant impact on the cash flow and revenue stream of Exelon as well as negatively impacting work management, supplier/contractor performance, system reliability and customer satisfaction goals.

Contributes to continuous improvement of the Supply organization and the development of individual team members.

Ability and commitment to support the Business Units' Emergency Response activities as assigned, including rotational assignments for 24/7 on-call duty.

Availability for travel across Exelon sites, Supplier locations and business units, as business needs dictate.
