Job Description

Synagro Northeast, LLC is looking for an electrician / instrumentation technician to conduct, maintain, test and repair electrical/electronic, mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic systems and components at our plants located throughout Rhode Island, Massachussets & Connecticut.  The primary location is at the facililty located in Woonsocket, RI. Applies knowledge of electrical/electronic and mechanical principles in determining equipment malfunctions and applies skills in restoring equipment to operation.  Ensure that work is performed in accordance with relevant codes.

 

Principal Activities and Responsibilities

 

          Inspect, repair, install, modify, and maintain electrical/electronic systems, circuits and equipment.

          Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic and electrical/electronic equipment including but not limited to programmable controls, numeral controls, power supplies, drives, gauges, and test equipment.

          Inform appropriate management and staff of potential electrical/mechanical problems and inherent dangers involved.

          Maintain company-required performance and maintenance records for identified equipment.

          Supervise and assist outside contractors as needed.

          Perform equipment maintenance according to abilities, as required to keep the process running.  Contact the on-call mechanic when necessary.

          Enforce and maintain standard safety procedures and maintain a clean work area at all times.

          Participate and complete training programs within the time frame allotted.

          Assist in facility shutdowns as needed.

          Perform any general work or other assignments necessary to ensure the safe, clean, and efficient operation of the facility to include sweeping, shoveling, and other housekeeping activities.

Job Requirements / Qualifications

 

          Minimum High School Diploma or equivalent (GED) required.

          RI &/or MA State Electrical License (Class B or M) with 5 years troubleshooting and repairing industrial equipment/systems

 

         required.

          Ability to obtain CT State Electrical Contractor License.

          Instrumentation and PLC experience required.

          Thorough knowledge of electrical components and equipment including the use of special instruments for diagnostic use.

          Ability to recognize operational inconsistencies and hazards in the workplace and display proper judgment in responding

          Ability to read and comprehend instructional manuals, instruction sheets, technical data, blueprints, work orders and mechanical drawings in English.  Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing and ability to follow instructions.

          Thorough knowledge and understanding of occupational hazards connected with machine shop and general plant practices with emphasis on the necessity of safety policy compliance.

          Ability to work varying shifts, overtime, holidays, on call duty and emergency call-ins.

          Ability to do basic reading, writing, and arithmetic.

          Ability to work set priorities and complete assigned tasks with limited supervision.

          Ability to travel required.  Must possess valid drivers license and have clean driving record.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Physical Requirements / Other Abilities:

 

          Ability to access confined spaces through standard 12 X 16 man ways.

          Ability to perform required duties at heights up to 80 feet.

          Ability to work under adverse conditions requiring the donning and use of PPE

          Ability to receive, comprehend and utilize required training from OSHA and Company

          Ability to operate powered equipment in safe and efficient manner (industrial forklifts / manlifts)

          Ability to operate hand and powered tools in safe and efficient manner on ground surfaces as well as heights

          Ascend and descend stairs and stationary vertical ladders as part of normal work activity and emergency situations

          Ability to work in extreme temperatures (hot and cold)

          Ability to move about all areas of the plant, including catwalks, deck grating and uneven surfaces.

          Ability to lift up to 75lbs.
