Job Description
Vail Resorts Management Company, the management subsidiary of Vail Resorts, Inc., is seeking a Senior Corporate Counsel to build and lead the internal litigation function for the Company and its subsidiaries. 
 
This new position will be based in the corporate headquarters and will report to the Senior Vice President and General Counsel of Vail Resorts, Inc.  The litigation team will handle a wide variety of matters for Vail's three operating divisions: mountain resorts, real estate construction and hospitality.  This position will supervise a team of three, comprised of a litigation counsel, a litigation paralegal and a claims manager.  The newly established litigation team will handle a wide variety of matters, including working closely with outside counsel on complex commercial disputes (having the responsibility for document gathering, review and production, preparing interrogatories and conducting depositions and motions practice); handling mid-sized commercial disputes exclusively with the in-house team through trial; handling guest liability disputes exclusively with the in-house team through trial; and establishing an internal infrastructure for conducting e-discovery in-house.  The position will work closely with attorneys supporting each of the business units. The attorney will be frequently called upon to attend strategic meetings with management and must have the maturity and poise to handle competing priorities, communicate confidently and articulately with management, and thrive in a fast paced environment.  
 
Qualifications:
  • J.D. from an accredited law school
  • Admission to the Colorado state bar and the federal court in Colorado
  • Minimum of 10 years of litigation experience preferred
  • Supervision of the work of other attorneys and paralegals
  • Extensive courtroom experience, including as a first-chair
