Concrete and Asphalt Equipment Crewmember - Army National Guard (Eastern/Tulsa, Oklahoma)

Pave the way to a great future by joining the Army National Guard as a Concrete and Asphalt Equipment Crewmember.

As such, you will help the Army National Guard complete any number of construction projects that require concrete or asphalt. And there are hundreds of them: airfields, roads, building foundations, and more. In this role, you may be responsible for producing concrete with a concrete mobile mixer; assisting in the building and operation of an asphalt producing plant; operating asphalt distributors, aggregate spreaders, and asphalt kettles; assisting in the operation of asphalt paving and surfacing equipment; and assisting combat engineer missions.

By joining this specialty, you will develop the skills that will prepare you for a rewarding career with construction enterprises like building contractors, state highway agencies, rock quarries, well drillers, or construction firms. You may also qualify for an additional three-year operating engineer apprenticeship program. These programs, which are administered by the International Union of Operating Engineers and the Associated General Contractors of America, Inc., consist of at least three years or 6,000 hours of on-the-job training and 144 hours per year of classroom instruction.

Job training for a Concrete and Asphalt Equipment Operator consists of nine weeks of Basic Training, where you'll learn basic Soldiering skills, and four to 12 weeks of Advanced Individual Training, including practice operating construction equipment. Part of this time is spent in the classroom and part in the field.

Requirements

          High School Diploma or GED (If you do not have a diploma or GED, you may still apply ask a recruiter about how the Army National Guard can help you earn your GED.)
