Job Description


The Data Modeler will be a member of a small-to-medium sized team that creates and modifies data models and formats that are required to support the NSA Enterprise. Specific duties may include one or more of the following: 1) UML class diagram development 2) XML schema generation 3) Creation/design/implementation of data model change request and proposals 4) Creation of Logical and Physical Data Models. A candidate must have at least 3 years of applicable experience or equivalent education (CS, EE, IT or Information Systems), and a working knowledge of UML, XML, Data Management, Data Flow, and Metadata markup Strategies. This experience should have been gained within the Intelligence Community (preferably within the TechSIGINT domain). Desired tool experience includes Rational Rose, Sybase PowerDesigner, and Stylus Studio. Significant modeling experience in UML, adequate XML background (familiarity with specifications and development of XML schemas) and minimum 5 years SIGINT background (preferably TechSIGINT and reporting). Applies an interdisciplinary, collaborative approach to lead activities to plan, design, develop and verify complex lifecycle balanced system of systems and system solutions. Leads others to evaluate customer/operational needs to define system performance requirements, integrate technical parameters and assure compatibility of all physical, functional and program interfaces. Leads analyses to optimize total system of systems and/or system architecture. Leads analyses for safety, reliability, maintainability, testability, human systems integration, survivability, vulnerability, susceptibility, system security, regulatory, certification, product assurance and other specialties quality factors into a preferred configuration to ensure mission success. Leads, develops, maintains and identifies improvements the planning, organization, implementation and monitoring of requirements management processes, tools, risk, issues, opportunity management and technology readiness assessment processes. Works under consultative direction.

Typical Education/Experience


Level 5 - Degree and typical experience in engineering classification: Bachelor's 14 or more years' experience, Master's with 12 or more years' experience or PhD with 9 or more years' experience. Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry. ABET is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard. Level 6 - Degree and typical experience in engineering classification: Bachelor's and 20 or more years' experience, Master's with 18 or more years' experience or PhD with 15 or more years' experience. Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry. ABET is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
