(DRS-CCI) is the premier supplier of instrumentation & control systems for critical applications in U.S. Navy ships. DRS CCI is a leading innovator and supplier of shipboard hydraulic to electric actuation conversion solutions that reduce construction and lifecycle costs. Since the 1960s DRS CCI, under our Consolidated Controls legacy name brand, has provided Nuclear Regulatory Commission certified safety, and non-safety, analog and digital distributed controls systems for US and international nuclear power plants. 

 

Products include shipboard control systems and panels, high-performance networks, tactical displays, controllers, circuit cards, detectors/transmitters, and specialty reactor plant instrumentation and control equipment. The division designs, qualifies and manufactures products that help our sailors maintain our nation's maritime supremacy and our industrial customers to operate safely and efficiently.  We operate on a 9/80 work schedule with core works of 80 hrs in 9 days and every other Friday off.

 

 

Position Summary

 

This role presents a leadership opportunity for a senior level Program Management professional that encompasses all facets of project management, customer management and team leadership. The Director of Programs will be accountable for successful management of all programs delivering financial return as well as managing the customer relationship from a delivery and programmatic standpoint.

The Director of Programs must have excellent program management skills capable of leading teams that are designing, manufacturing and delivering complex control systems. Strong leadership, relationship building, and team management skills are key expectations.

 

The Director of Programs creates a positive team environment that leads to high performance standards, and demonstrable growth. He/She will be a mentor and coach, focused on the individual development of team members. The Director will also contribute to the continual improvement and development of the Program Management organization.

 

 

Duties and Responsibilities

 

• Manage and lead a dedicated Program Management organization on the successful execution of both large (greater than $11-30M) and medium ($1 to $10M) development and build to print programs

• Participates in proposal efforts and negotiations

• Responsible for relationships with the customer's senior leadership team and communicates status and issues regularly

• Develops the Program Management department budget and executes against plan

• Support the development of new business growth strategies related to existing programs and products to existing and new customers as well as migration of new products and services to these target customers

• Provide support to business development in pursuit of new opportunities.

• Develop and maintain detailed program execution plans, budgets and schedules

• Serve as prime interface to DRS-CCI leadership to report business unit program status and progress against the financial plans – specific targets for Revenue, Operating Income and Cash Flow

• Continually monitor the program organizations progress in terms of cost, schedule and technical performance

• Conduct monthly program reviews to inform management of progress in terms of cost, schedule and technical performance

• Support annual strategic planning efforts for the business

• Demonstrate continuous improvement including lean as a management and execution improvement tool within the business.

 

 

Basic Qualifications

·            Engineering or business degree required. Masters degree preferred. Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience

·            Certification in Program Management preferred (i.e. PMP)

·            Advanced knowledge of program management tools and procedures

·            Leadership and management skills, particularly "influence management" and "conflict resolution"·           

 

·            Significant experience throughout the program lifecycle from development through sustainment to include proposal development, requirements decomposition, generation of system and subsystem statements of work and subcontracts, risk management, and continuous improvement efforts including implementation for cost reduction and performance improvement efforts

 

·            Experience with earned value cost accounting and reporting; experience with metrics for assessing and reporting program progress, productivity and variance analysis

·            Experience in finance, contracting, export regulations, engineering, logistics, manufacturing and supply chain management

·            Excellent customer interface skills

·            Advanced problem solving skills

·            Excellent oral and verbal communications skills

·            Demonstrated success in managing manpower planning, project reviews, scheduling and budget control

·            Must have a successful track record in managing complex programs

·            Must have excellent leadership skills

·            Must have experience in managing a portfolio of programs in which financial objectives (profit, cash flow, revenue, bookings) were achieved

·            Solid negotiating and networking skills

 

Additional Desirable Qualifications Skills and Knowledge

·            Detail oriented, highly organized and able to effectively multi-task without a high degree of supervision

·            Proficiency with Microsoft Office products

·            Navy and /or Nuclear Power industry experience

·            Current Secret Clearance
