Responsibility Level:
The Manufacturing Engineer focuses on providing technical leadership and support to operations by leading process improvement projects, driving plant productivity through automation and improved manufacturing techniques for the Advanced Battery Operations. Has a leadership role in identification and implementation of Continuous Improvement ideas. Scope of position covers the following: (1) Manufacturing Engineering, (2) Data Collection, (3) Process Flow, (4) Working Capital Management, (5) Laser Welding, (6) Optics, (7) Robotics

Education and/or Experience:
BSChE in Chemical Engineering (desired)
Or
BSME in Mechanical Engineering with practicing welding and mechanics of materials experience.
MBA or advanced degree a plus
Minimum of 5 - 7 years of engineering experience.
Experience in laser systems, optics and robotics desired.
Language Skills:
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general pubic.
Mathematical Skills:
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability, statistics, fluid mechanics, mechanics of materials and fundamental engineering physics. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, rations, and proportions, to practical situations.
Reasoning Ability:
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
Responsibility for Costs:
Position will be responsible for procuring & installing Leak Testing & Electrolyte Filling equipment (Approx $13.7 million Capital Purchase)

Typical Duties:
- Supports the development and roll-out of Best Business Practices & Continuous Improvement opportunities in manufacturing operations. Executes timely and accurate preparation of required business case documents.
- Performs process and material flow analysis. Develop manufacturing process techniques, and equipment to improve productivity.
- Specification, installation, and implementation of plant machinery, tooling and equipment.
- Provide engineering assistance in quality problem solving activities.
- Project management of MIS, maintenance, and engineering projects ensuring commitment and expectations are exceeded.
- Oversee equipment modifications and design.
- Perform project and plant management activities.
- Manage purchase burden accounts to meet or exceed monthly expectations for budgets.
- Assist facility in obtaining and maintaining QL and QS9000 status.
- Manufacturing responsibility for laser systems and maintenance of those systems
- Optimization of through put and quality control of the assembly process.
- Assess scrap & control process through problem solving, data collection.
- Establishes yearly capital needs for assigned projects requiring process manufacturing equipment changes.
- Manages budget for Manufacturing Engineering projects assigned.
- Manages and updates programs for cross-plant standardization of processing equipment.
- Has scheduled meetings with plant operations personnel to review project progress and identification of future projects.
- Works closely with other disciplines to insure DFM/DFA in a lean manufacturing environment.
- Supports the developent of skilled trade's personnel by providing leadership and training related to new innovations.
- Insures efficient and safe work practices and procedures at all times.
- Schedules and attends Monthly Project Reviews and Phase exists. Evaluates adherence to standard Project Management systems and best practice.
- Adheres to disciplines defined by Glide Path on all major process and facility launches.
Requirements:
Education and/or Experience:
