Job Description
If you have experience with physical labor and a knack for working as part of a motivated team there are outstanding opportunities waiting for you. As a Boatswains Mate in the Navy Reserve, you will take responsibility for the care and management of a ships deck. Ensuring that materials are handled safely and responsibly, equipment is properly maintained, and the details are in order to keep the ship and its personnel operating efficiently. Your duties may include:
* Standing watch as helmsman or lookout
* Repairing, maintaining and stowing equipment
* Performing as a search and rescue swimmer
* Transferring supplies from ship to ship at sea
* Operating small boats
* Supervising a deck crew in cleaning, painting and maintaining ships and their equipment
* Serving in a flight deck crew during helicopter operations
About the Navy Reserve

Qualifications
To qualify as a Boatswains Mate, you must:
* Be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident
* Be 18 to 39 years of age
* Have a high school diploma or equivalent
* Meet the Navys physical standards
* Demonstrate character, resourcefulness, leadership, determination and ability to work as part of a team
Note: Experience with shipping, cargo and other physical jobs is strongly desired. Prior military service is also sought after.
