I write this in a car on my way back from Nogales, Mexico, where I just left two of my students with freelancer Monica Campbell. One of my students, Amanda Palenscia, is reporting on the economic impact of the drug war on this border town, the other Kelly Knaub, is doing a piece on human rights violations. I have 15 other students scattered throughout Arizona and Mexico reporting on immigration issues across media platforms. They are looking for the truth, looking for great stories, learning, pushing themselves and growing as journalists. This is it. This is why I left the newsroom to teach. I could not have made this happen without NAHJ�s support.
