Job Title: Staff Accountant
Location: Cincinnati, Ohio 45227
Duration: 6+ months
Pay range: 22$hr-25$hr.
Responsible for maintaining accurate accounting records, preparing financial statements, and supporting month-end closing and reporting. Reviews, reconciles, and monitors departmental accounts while ensuring compliance with policies and GAAP. Actively manages risk by following procedures, sharing concerns, and driving a positive customer and team experience.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Accurately maintain all assigned accounting records and perform related accounting functions.
- Prepare daily entries and monitor accounts, maintaining account balances.
- Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and contribute to new system integration.
- Ensure compliance with internal accounting policies and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
- Reconcile and resolve outages from complex accounts.
- Coordinate month-end accounting activities across departments and affiliates.
- Complete all accounting entries and reports timely and accurately.
- Ensure completeness and accuracy of account reconciliations.
- Maintain adherence to GAAP in all entries.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Assist in preparing various financial statements and monthly reporting packages.
- Respond to inquiries from management, auditors, and regulatory authorities regarding accounting data and procedures.
- Participate in and support special projects as assigned.
MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Economics.
- Working knowledge of GAAP is required; pursuing a Master's degree or certification (CPA, CMA) is a plus.
- At least 1 year of accounting experience in financial services or public accounting.
- Proficiency in Excel, Word, and other basic applications.
- Ability to quickly learn and use financial systems such as Recon-Plus, Frontier, Mobius, and TM1.
- Strong communication, organization, and follow-up skills.
- Excellent analytical, verbal, and written communication capabilities.
- Effective interpersonal and relationship-building skills.
- Ability to apply critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
- Capable of prioritizing and organizing tasks to meet deadlines.
- Ability to communicate clearly with finance staff, managers, and department leaders.
