POSITION SUMMARY:
Under limited supervision, the Buyer I position will be responsible for purchasing materials, parts, components, equipment, software, and services in Americas based on requests from MELCO and its affiliated companies (Customers). This role also involves exporting products to other countries (primarily Japan) and providing various product and/or supplier information for MELCO and its affiliates. Some clerical work for PCD is also included (e.g., data entry etc).

The essential functions of the position include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Initiates requests for quotations and proposals and analyze proposed pricing from potential suppliers.
  • Performs pricing and technical negotiations, when necessary, prior to issuance of customer purchase orders.
  • Partner with the customer's procurement and engineering teams, as well as other internal stakeholders, to ensure source selection and procurements meet program requirements (schedule, cost, and quality).
  • Generate MEUS POs and release them to suppliers upon receipt of customer POs.
  • Accurate data entry to the SAP system.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for day-to-day issues, questions, and status updates.
  • Monitor supplier's quality and ensure the deliverables are shipped by the required delivery date.
  • Classify any deliverables and/or technical data specified in MEUS POs in accordance with the procedure as in the MEUS Export Compliance Program (ECP) prior to export.
  • For any deliverables and/or technical data requiring export licenses, prepare and coordinate export license applications to DOS or DOC in collaboration with Legal Department and MEUS Export Control Administrator (ECA). This includes, but not limited to, collecting required information from customers and coordinating applications after MEUS POs are issued to suppliers and prior to export.
  • Manage purchase order performance and ensure compliance with all requirements, company policies and procedures including export regulations.
  • Upon receipt of on-hand notice of deliverables and/or technical data shipped from suppliers via designated freight forwarder, coordinate with freight forwarder to arrange export shipments to customer-designated destinations outside the U.S. After ensuring all export compliance requirements are met, generate invoices and authorize shipments under MEUS power of attorney.
  • Host and/or lead conference calls with suppliers and customers to resolve issues.
  • Coordinate domestic and international shipping and issue invoices.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with customers and suppliers to support collaboration and performance.
  • Execute purchasing agreement (terms and conditions) with suppliers in co-operation with MELCO and MEUS legal department.
  • Ability to prioritize assignments in a fast-paced environment.
  • Plan, schedule, and arrange activities to accomplish objectives, demonstrating strong written and verbal communication skills and organization.
  • Download data from purchasing system and prepare reports such as monthly sales report & weekly delivery status report.
  • Obtain annual procurement forecasts from the customers and create an annual sales budget (June and December).
  • Achieve projected annual sales targets.
  • Source new suppliers and new products in the Americas and introduce them to MELCO.
  • Negotiate with suppliers to resolve post-delivery warranty claims.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • 3-5 years of purchasing experience within electric or machinery companies preferred.
  • Must be eligible to receive ITAR- and EAR-controlled technical date in compliance with, applicable U.S. export control laws and regulations
  • Must be able to travel domestically and internationally
  • Understanding of the difference in business culture between Japan and the U.S.

The pay range for this position at commencement of employment is expected to be between $70,304/yr and $80,300/yr; however, base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including commissions based on achieving individual performance and/or sales metrics, incentive compensation and discretionary awards in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as vacation, sick time, and parental leave), dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these additional compensation and benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.

If hired, employee will be in an "at-will position" and the Company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
