





Job Title: Programs Engineer (Corporate)
Location: Corporate Office, Birmingham, AL; Farley, Hatch, and Vogtle
Job Summary
Southern Nuclear Operating Company’s corporate Fleet Plant Support Department provides support for the Southern Nuclear Fleet. We are seeking engineers with experience or working knowledge in Inservice Inspection, License Renewal/Aging Management, Welding & Code Repair/Replacement, Fatigue Monitoring, Steam Generator Management, and/or Reactor Vessel Internals. These program engineers are responsible for providing technical leadership and guidance in the aforementioned programs. The successful candidate should understand applicable regulations, codes, and industry standards and be familiar with program implementation in nuclear power plants. Activities involve ensuring code/regulatory compliance, identifying industry best practices, developing/maintaining fleet procedures, participating in industry working groups, and troubleshooting problems. The candidate must live within 1 hour of the Corporate HQ (Energy Center) or one of the operating sites to support Emergency Response Organization (ERO) duties.
Job Requirements
Education and Experience
- Bachelor of Science degree in an engineering discipline from an accredited college or university, or Professional Engineer license is required. (Engineering Technology will not be accepted).
- Preferred disciplines: Materials, Mechanical or Civil Engineering. Nuclear, Chemical, and Electrical Engineering degrees will be considered based on experience.
Experience Preferences
- Strong technical background in engineering and working knowledge of applicable codes, industry standards, and regulatory requirements.
- 3+ years of experience with programs such as Inservice Inspection, Welding & Code Repair/Replacement, Fatigue Monitoring, Steam Generator Management, and/or Reactor Vessel Internals is desired.
- 5+ years of experience is preferred.
- Proficiency in interpreting system/component/isometric drawings is preferred.
- Experience at a nuclear power plant is preferred.
- Previous experience in systems, programs, or component engineering is preferred.

Major Job Responsibilities
Responsible for SNC program performance and standardization across the fleet. Ensure regulatory code compliance, apply industry best practices, and oversee plant equipment inspection/testing. Assignments may include refueling outage support, and emergency plan response, and industry travel associated with assigned duties. Successful completion of SNC Initial Engineering Training may be required.
