Job Description

The Area Business Director - Cattle Saleswill lead and direct all sales activities across our cattle portfolios in support of the US Ruminant Business. This key leadership role will report to the Executive Director of Livestock Sales and oversee a team of 4-5 Regional Sales Managers and a field sales force of 40-50, ensuring that sales targets are met while managing the operational budget and collaborating closely with our marketing team. This role requires close collaboration across the Cattle Sales and Marketing organizations, as well as cross-functional partnerships with various business units.

As the Area Business Director, your key responsibilities will include:

  • Leadership & Supervision:Directly supervise all Regional Managers within the area, leading the cattle sales team to position our products and brands effectively in the US Cattle Market.
  • Sales Strategy:Provide clear expectations and metrics for success, along with the necessary resources and tools for execution.
  • Market Insights:Gather field input on competitor activities and customer needs to inform marketing strategies.
  • Guidance & Support:Advise Regional Sales Managers on implementing corporate practices tailored to the area.
  • Financial Acumen:Utilize in-depth knowledge of P&L, budget management, and forecasting to make informed decisions regarding resource allocation and business opportunities.
  • Coaching & Development:Mentor team members in problem-solving techniques and foster a culture of creativity and preventive action.
  • Relationship Building:Develop and maintain strong relationships with key opinion leaders, customers, and industry influencers to identify market trends and business opportunities.
  • Team Development:Lead and develop both direct and indirect team members, participating in recruitment to build a high-performing team.
  • Training Collaboration:Work with the Learning and Development team to design and implement effective sales and marketing training.
  • Analytics Utilization:Collaborate with Business & Marketing Operations to leverage analytics tools for enhancing sales force effectiveness.
  • Financial Targets:Achieve financial obligations and targets based on the annual business plan.
  • Stakeholder Interaction:Engage with customers, key stakeholders, and distribution partners to address inquiries and issues.
  • Knowledge Sharing:Share best practices and organizational learnings across the broader team and company.

Qualifications:

Education & Experience:

  • Minimum of 10+ years in sales, marketing, and/or business operations, with in-depth knowledge of the Animal Health market.
  • At least 7 years of people management experience.
  • Strong understanding of the biological/vaccine market.
  • Proven strategic leadership and financial acumen.
  • Strong capability in managing product portfolios at various lifecycle phases.
  • Excellent relationship management, negotiation, and account management skills.
  • Advanced written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Suite, CRM, and web applications.
  • Ability to travel up to 50%

Preferred Skills/Abilities:

  • MBA or Master's Degree preferred.

U.S. Hybrid Work Model

The Company is required to provide a reasonable estimate of the salary range for this job in certain states and cities within the United States. Expected US salary range:

$169,700.00 - $267,200.00
