University of Washington School of Medicine Department of Anesthesiology & Pain Medicine at Seattle Childrens Hospital has an academic physician position available for the Pain Medicine program at the rank of Assistant Professor. This position is without tenure by reason of funding and is either part-time or full-time with anticipated start date of October 2025 soon thereafter. Assistant Professors are eligible for multi-year appointments that align with a 12-month service period (July 1-June 30). Faculty with 12-month service periods are paid for 11 months of service over a 12-month period (July-June), meaning the equivalent of one month is available for paid time off. Salary and academic appointment at University of Washington will be commensurate with experience, qualifications, and academic rank. The base salary range for this position will be: Assistant Professor $16,667 - $22,500 per month ($200,004- $270,000 annually), commensurate with experience and qualifications, or as mandated by a U.S. Department of Labor prevailing wage determination. This range is inclusive of base salary provided through the Children's University Medical Group (CUMG) practice plan, in addition to base salary provided by the University. Please note that only compensation provided by the University is included in University benefit determinations and calculations. Other compensation associated with this position may include incentive through the CUMG practice plan. Compensation provided by the CUMG practice plan may provide eligibility for separate benefits offered by that organization. Duties of the position will include the teaching of medical students, residents and fellows, with specific emphasis in pediatric anesthesia and clinical or basic science research. Seattle Childrens provides care to children from the WWAMI (Washington, Wyoming, Alaska, Montana, and Idaho) region and supports all pediatric surgical and medical specialties. Responsibilities include interdisciplinary clinic for patients with chronic and recurrent pain, inpatient consultation as part of a rotating team, and the teaching of residents, fellows and medical students and training of clinical care team.
Qualifications
Must have an MD or DO degree (or foreign equivalent) and demonstrate evidence of specialty training (or foreign equivalent) in pediatric pain medicine. Must be board certified (or foreign equivalent) or eligible in a related discipline, and must obtain State of Washington medical licensure prior to start date. In order to be eligible for University sponsorship for an H-1B visa, graduates of foreign (non-US) medical schools must show successful completion of all three steps of the US Medical Licensing Exam (USMLE), or equivalent as determined by the Secretary of Health and Human Services. Visa sponsorship is not available for part-time positions.
