Job Description

The Corporate Manager - Manufacturing Training is responsible overseeing the development of the Manufacturing Training Program to include training content, assessment of the skills, performance, safety, productivity, and competency of associates in the manufacturing plant, as well as reporting on training program to top management for review and as a basis for continual improvement.

What your day will look like:

  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the UNITED policies and applicable laws
  • Interview, hire, and train associates
  • Plan, assign, and direct work
  • Appraise performance
  • Address complaints and resolve problems
  • Builds positive associate morale.
  • Lead a team of Manufacturing Training Managers who manage the execution of the training program within the manufacturing plant
  • Lead the creation of associate onboarding training content to include job specific duties, safety, environmental, quality and food safety requirements
  • Lead the Manufacturing Training Program in all 8 manufacturing locations to ensure associates are adequately trained and competent and to drive the Culture of Learning initiative within manufacturing
  • Oversee the development and implementation of processes and tools for conducting and tracking associate training and facilitate the utilization of competency evaluations
  • Oversee the development of associate training plans with the local Manufacturing Training Managers
  • Direct the utilization of competency evaluations for associates and oversee development of training plans to improve competency
  • Guide the Manufacturing Training Manager’s in reviewing and updating SOP’s, work aids, forms, and training aids
  • Lead the creation of specific standards for setup, centerline, and run conditions for each machine to be included in associate Training Plans
  • Oversee the development of Supervisor and Manager level Standard Work routines in each plant
  • Oversee the development of career mapping for each hourly position within the manufacturing plant
  • Assist in coordinating and overseeing the developmental training and classes for plant leadership
  • Lead the Manufacturing Training Manager’s to ensure Master Control Training is completed for existing as well as new hires.
  • Serve as a resource for the Manufacturing Training Managers in partnering with department champions and MSM to facilitate external training needs
  • Assist in leading continuous improvement exercises as they relate to improvements or enhancements in training methods, training programs and initiatives, and training content
  • Help to establish training milestones and goals

What you need to succeed:

  • Minimum age 18 years old
  • Valid driver’s license required and obligation to maintain compliance with UNITED fleet policy
  • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as required by position and compliance with UNITED safety policies
  • Regular and prompt attendance is an essential function of the job
  • Ability to read, write and speak English
  • Ability to maintain a neat professional appearance within Company guidelines
  • Ability to maintain safety and security of Company assets
  • Ability to utilize all Company provided resources and technology
  • Strong leadership and organizational skills
  • Proven ability to coach and manage the needs and concerns of multiple associates
  • 2 years minimum experience directly managing a team of associates required
  • Willingness to work weekends, holidays, or flexible schedule as required
  • Bachelor’s Degree in related field; or 5-7 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 2 years minimum experience with developing and managing onboarding, job specific training plans, and the use of various tools (digital, etc) in training required
  • Ability to observe, understand, and document various processes and procedures and communicate with associates and plant leadership required
  • Ability to travel (75%)
  • Excellent organizational, planning, analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills

Physical Requirements

Position will be required to comply with the CCBCU Personal Protective Equipment Program. Position is required to wear safety toed shoes when performing the following tasks: Operating Powered Industrial Equipment or Working in an Area where Powered Industrial Equipment is in use, Fleet Maintenance, Working with Palletized Product, Use of Hand Trucks/Dollies to Deliver Product, Cooler Services, etc.
