Essential Duties
Bridgewater State University's Department of Criminal Justice invites applications for a full-time temporary 1-year position to begin Fall 2025.Responsibilities include:*Teach upper level and lower level courses including graduate courses (both online and traditional face to face) for our University's diverse student population using a variety of appropriate teaching methods; meets all scheduled classes prepared to instruct; prepares teaching syllabi for courses of study; prepares materials to adequately evaluate student progress; reports midterm and final grades when appropriate; maintains accurate and adequate records; establishes regular office hours for student consultation.*Demonstrate sensitivity to and understanding of students from diverse backgrounds with a wide range of abilities.
*Utilize an equity- minded framework to prepare lesson plans which incorporate varied instructional techniques, multi-media, integration strategies designed to meet the educational, culturally relevant, and emotional needs of our students.
*Develop and maintain a classroom environment conducive to effective learning. Encourage student success to all students regardless of race.*Participate and provide opportunities for all students that support a diverse and inclusive pedagogy.
Required Qualifications
Master's degree in Criminal Justice or Criminology or Sociology. Related fields may also be considered.Experience teaching courses in Criminal Justice.

They should also have a commitment to public higher education, an ability to use technology effectively in teaching and learning, a commitment to collaboration, and evidence of scholarship activity.
Preferred Qualifications
Ph.D. is preferred.Experience teaching restorative justice and/or victimology and/or corrections.
Experience teaching in a prison.
Experience advising students.
