The Department of Special Education provides an array of undergraduate and graduate programs designed to prepare candidates to support students with moderate to severe special needs. The undergraduate program includes majors in Moderate Prek-8, Moderate 5-12, and Severe all levels, in addition to two minors. At the graduate level there are nine different M.Ed. programs including licensure options in Moderate Prek-2, Prk-8, 5-12, and Severe Prek-2 and all levels, in addition to non-licensure, professional program options, and a Board-Certified Behavior Analyst program. There are also certificate endorsement programs in Autism, Social Emotional Learning (SEL), Transition Specialist, and Applied Behavior Analysis. The Department is heavily invested in supporting the special education needs of the southeast region of MA through off-campus cohorts, Continuing Studies options, and grant programs through the DESE. Essential Duties
The Special Education Department seeks candidates for a full-time, temporary, 1 year Assistant Professor position.The faculty member will be responsible for a 12-credit course load, using an equity- minded framework to prepare lesson plans which incorporate varied instructional techniques, multi-media, integration strategies designed to meet the educational, culturally relevant, and emotional needs of our students. Responsibilities include teaching special education courses in literacy, and/or licensure requirements, and student teaching supervision. The faculty member will develop and maintain a classroom environment conducive to effective learning; and encourage student success to all students regardless of race.
The chosen candidate will need to be available during the day as well as early evenings and may also perform other related duties as required.
Required Qualifications
Ph.D. or Ed.D. in Special Education or a related field.Qualifications as a Board-Certified Behavior Analyst.
Licensure in Moderate or Severe Special Needs.
Minimum of three years teaching experience in special education.
Experience supervising practicums for BCBA candidates.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience teaching undergraduate or graduate courses in special education and/or applied behavior analysis.Evidence of conducting professional development training in the field of special education or related fields.
Specialties in ABA, Licensure Courses (e.g., Assessment, IEP Process), Child and Language Development, and Action Research
