Deputy Director of External Affairs

The State of Connecticut Judicial Branch is seeking a Deputy Director for the External Affairs Division who will report to the Executive Director of the External Affairs Division. The successful candidate will be responsible for:
- managing the Judicial Branch’s legislative activities
- monitoring, evaluating and assessing legislative issues
- representing the Branch at legislative meetings and hearings
- effectively communicating with legislators about issues of concern to the Judicial Branch
- preparing and presenting testimony to legislative committees
- analyzing the impact of legislative proposals under consideration and recommending revisions or modifications that will enhance the Branch’s operations
- drafting legislation and other written materials
- disseminating legislative information to judges, Executive Directors and other pertinent employees
Salary Range: $135,912 - $176,948/year – plus State of Connecticut benefits.
New employees begin at the minimum. The starting salary for existing state employees may be higher than the minimum, in accordance with existing Judicial Branch policy.

EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING
General Experience: Membership in the Connecticut Bar and three years of experience in legal research and writing, legislative process, or a related field.
