Job Summary:
This position provides engineering technical support for the Georgia Power Juliette Metrology Lab (JML) for Measuring and Test Equipment (M&TE) repair, calibration, and certification activities. This includes ensuring that standards and procedures are in conformance and are technically correct. The incumbent will also be responsible for the following activities: procedure writing, project managing new lab standard purchases, capability reviews, various test equipment repair support, nonconformance reviews, test automation, data collection, uncertainty analysis, and providing required training to less experienced personnel.

Educational Requirements:
- Technical degree and/or experience are mandatory. Formal training in Calibration / Metrology and Engineering degree is highly desirable. Strong computer skills are a must.
- Advanced engineering degree or PE a plus
- Military training a plus
Job Experience, Knowledge, and Skills:
- Experience in technical roles (e.g., engineering, specialist, etc.) is highly desirable
- Experience with developing and delivering training preferred
- 10 CFR 50, Appendix B and 10 CFR 21 knowledge a plus
- Knowledge of a calibration lab and metrology terms
- Development and maintenance of area procedures
- Effective verbal and writing skills
- Strong team player that builds credibility and trust quickly
- Ability to work with people to achieve organizational objectives
- Must be able to support 24/7 operation including holidays, nights, and weekends when necessary
- Proficient in relevant computer applications / Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, etc.)

MAJOR JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Serve as a technical expert in all areas at JML including electrical, temperature, pressure, dimensional, flow, torque, force, and vibration
- Project manages all JML new equipment purchases / installs from conception to completion to ensure all expected cost and productivity goals are met or exceeded
- Train all technicians on how to operate new equipment and ensure they have the technical training to complete their jobs
- Manage the JML capital budget and make the necessary purchases that provide the best value to the customers
- Track all production numbers and provide process improvements and efficiency
- Write and approve technical procedures on equipment and ensure all procedures meet the needs of QA program
- Provide technical evaluation of the Nonconformance Reports that we provide for the nuclear QA program
- Review and approve all data sheets to ensure technical accuracy
- Research new capabilities to support our customers’ needs (e.g. solar industry to calibrate integral pyranometers and other needs of that industry)
- Research new lab standards for complex calibrations and repairs
- Create and manage uncertainty budgets that specify how technically accurate calibration processes are for each reading taken
