Your Role:
We are seeking a visionary and experienced IT Manager to lead the Data Pipeline Engineering function within the larger Data and AI Platform Engineering department. This role is crucial for ensuring the success of our data engineering practice by demonstrating solid data engineering knowledge and leadership experience. You will provide strategic direction, manage multiple complex IT project teams, and ensure that our systems and products meet the highest quality standards and customer service expectations.
Your work:
• Working within information technology standards established by the CIO and the CSAA IG Technology organization, this position provides leadership and direction in their area of responsibility.
• Manages to departmental budget.
• Participates in development of standards and evaluates specific technologies, general technology trends, competencies, strategies and methodologies.
• Manages multiple and/or highly complex IT project teams.
• Leads technical efforts of project teams involving other managers and/or consultants.
• May participate in setting short-term strategic direction as well as operational policies for the I.T. Organization.
• Ultimately responsible for ensuring that Systems and Products are maintained to appropriate quality objectives and are enhanced as directed by the business community, and ultimately meet the customer service standards set by the department.
Required Experience
• Bachelor's degree in related area (Computer Science, Engineering, or Business) or an equivalent combination of education and experience
• 10 to 15 years' experience in a similar technical environment
• 5+ years management experience in the this IT domain area
• Ability to plan, organize and achieve coordinated objectives
• Demonstrated ability to adjust focus to meet changing priorities, alteration in strategic directions and shifting customer needs
• Ability to plan, organize and achieve coordinated objectives
• Ability to influence vendors on product/service direction and resolve significant business issues
• Accountable for ensuring effective utilization of available resources and a cooperative, team atmosphere
• Demonstrated successful track record of managing projects of medium to large scope, complexity and budget with documented track record of success
• Demonstrated skill in conceptualizing creative technical solutions, documenting them, and presenting/selling them to senior management
• Demonstrated blend of creative problem solving and technical skills for refining existing theories and/or developing new system approaches or competency development to seize opportunities to enable business success
• Ability to express complex technical concepts in terms that are understandable to the business
• Exceptional business and technical writing skills and presentation skills
• Superior project management, consulting, negotiation, customer service skills; as well as the ability to effectively model and mentor others in systems competencies
• Strong analytical and conceptual skills
• Demonstrated track record in new concept development for a variety of projects and complex technical plans
• Ability to multi-task within flexible working environment
