Job Description

We are looking for Per Diem Clinical/Skills Lab Faculty to join our team in conjunction with our Workforce Development Partner, Trinity Health.

The Clinical/Skills Lab Faculty will provide Skills Lab and/or Clinical site education to students enrolled at the assigned Workforce Development Program site.

*Hours vary based on clinical rotation and/or skills lab course. We are currently looking for Saturday availability.

  1. Providing education in the skills lab and/or clinical setting commensurate with established curriculum and faculty expertise (clinical rotations can be days, evenings, weekends, or a combination of all);
  2. Utilize principles of teaching that recognize the characteristics of the adult learner;
  3. Plan and supervises student clinical experience in assigned health care facilities;
  4. Evaluates student performance in relation to clinical learning outcomes in accordance with policies and procedures established by Unitek College, Department of Nursing;
  5. Provide feedback of clinical performance or specific event in a timely manner after observation;
  6. Assists in maintaining student records as evidenced by keeping accurate clinical and/or skills lab attendance, completed skills check-off forms, and assisting with requested programmatic outcome data collection;
  7. Ensuring clinical assignments meet both student and facility needs;
  8. Determines best method to observe, instruct, and evaluate students;
  9. Makes continuous efforts to improve quality of instruction;
  10. Demonstrate or be willing to acquire skills for utilizing online activities as enhancers to course content/material during interactive teaching and learning;
  11. Submit required program reports and forms to the Academic Site Director of the program in a timely manner;
  12. Keep current with innovative technologies and safety regulations;
  13. Participate in committee activities that support the mission and function of the nursing program as needed;
  14. Attend faculty meetings;
  15. Provide access to students for ongoing communication through scheduling of office hours, electronic communication, or other appropriate method.
  16. Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  1. Registered Nurse with current unencumbered licensure in the state in which you are applying to teach.
  2. Minimum of a completed Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university that includes course work in nursing education or administration, and academic preparation for the subject they teach to be considered.
  3. Able to meet the faculty requirements set by the Board of Nursing.
  4. Experience which demonstrates: Current knowledge of nursing practice; ability to mentor students in classroom, lab and clinical settings; ability to work independently without close supervision; broad knowledge of nursing sciences; successful handling of day-to-day operations in the nursing lab; proficient, strong communications skills, verbal and written; current knowledge/experience in clinical setting.
  5. Minimum four-years' experience, with one year in the last five years, as a registered nurse providing direct patient care (clinical teaching in an RN program applies toward direct patient care.)
  6. One-year experience teaching courses related to nursing or completion of a course which includes practice in teaching nursing preferred.
  7. Expertise in one of the following areas of nursing - Mental Health, Medical-Surgical, Geriatrics, Pediatrics, L&D, Community Health, and/or Critical Care preferred.
  8. Must obtain ATI, Assessment Technology Institute Certification within 30 days of hire (offered by Unitek).
  9. Current immunizations and Basic Life Support Certification.
