National Grid is hiring a Project Manager for our Gas Capital Project Delivery Department in Melville, NY.

Job Purpose

To provide leadership and clear direction to project teams. Responsible for the delivery, management, and governance of assigned projects in accordance with the National Grid project management processes defined by scope, schedule, and quality.

Key Accountabilities

  • Manage gas distribution and transmission pipeline, regulator station, and other related asset projects, including new facilities, major additions, replacements, and retrofit projects.
  • Manage all aspects of assigned projects including:
  • Communications and team leadershi
  • Deliver approved scope, cost estimates, schedules, and resource plans
  • Control of project scope, cost, quality, and schedule parameters/risk management
  • Compliance with environmental, safety, and National Grid standards and policies
  • Adherence with all project permits
  • Project closure activities
  • Weekly and monthly project reporting
  • Project forecasting
  • Assuring project savings
  • Promote a culture of teamwork, collaboration, and efficient resource utilization throughout a network delivery organization.
  • Supporting groups within this organization include Engineering, Operations, Asset Management, Environmental, Resource Coordination, and others.

Qualifications

  • 2+ years' experience with project management.
  • A Bachelor's degree, preferably in an engineering discipline and/or significant relevant project management, engineering and construction experience, in all aspects of utility substation/line construction operations.
  • Certified Project Management Professional preferred or willingness to obtain.
  • Experience with successful delivery of complex projects and possess team leadership skills.
  • Strong influencing and negotiating skills.
  • Lead high performing teams; ability to foster a high energy environment, whereby team members can openly discuss relevant issues and there is a strong emphasis on continuous improvement.
  • Knowledge of gas system operations, gas industry codes/regulations, preferred.
  • Experience with construction, environmental, and/or engineering projects.
  • Change Management experience.
  • Valid driver's license with safe driving history required.

Salary

$112,000 - $132,000 a year

This position has a career path which provides for advancement opportunities within and across bands as you develop and evolve in the position; gaining experience, expertise and acquiring and applying technical skills. Internal candidates will be assessed and provided offers against the minimum qualifications of this role and their individual experience.
