Description Senior Controls / Automation Engineer opportunity in Apex, NC! Join a nearly 40-year custom automation and machine-building company known for strong employee longevity, no layoffs, and full in-house capabilities spanning design, fabrication, machining, wiring, programming, and testing. This is an exciting chance to step into an immediate senior-level need created by a retiring engineer and help deliver advanced automation systems for medical device, pharmaceutical, semiconductor, automotive, and consumer products industries. Qualifications and responsibilities for this Senior Controls / Automation Engineer position include: 8+ years of experience programming and commissioning industrial automation systems, preferably in a custom automation, machine builder, or systems integrator environment Design and implement control systems for advanced manufacturing automation projects involving PLCs, HMIs, robotics, machine vision, motor controls, sensors, and PC/PLC interfaces Heavy Allen-Bradley/Rockwell PLC experience, with Siemens, Beckhoff, Parker, MES connectivity, analog systems, and related controls platforms strongly preferred Proven commissioning experience on automation systems valued up to $1M-$2M, including FAT and SAT experience at company and customer sites Experience specifying controls and creating panel layouts and wiring schematics using AutoCAD Electrical Robotic programming experience with FANUC, ABB, Epson, or multi-axis robots, with Cognex/Keyence vision experience helpful Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent related field, with familiarity in mechanical, tooling, machining, and automation methodologies Must be a U.S. Citizen or Green Card holder with strong communication skills and proactive problem-solving ability Salary: $130,000 - $150,000 per year, commensurate with experience.
