Purpose Statement

Supervises a unit responsible for monitoring and ensuring plant products are safe, meet customer specifications, company quality, and reliability standards. Support in the implementation and improvement of the quality and food safety systems, receiving and plant Sanitation program to ensure that products, facility and processes meet the RPC Quality and Safety standards in accordance with regulation.
Recommends improvements in manufacturing methods and sanitation practices to management.

Key Accountabilities and Outcomes

  1. Supervises staff responsible for sensory, microbiological testing, and other quality control testing of plant products. Maintains weight and defect control programs in accordance with plant and company standards.
  2. Mentors and motivates associates, providing training and development to optimize their performance and personal growth. Communicates performance standards to associates, recognizing and rewarding individual and team accomplishments while counseling performance problems.
  3. Focuses solely on Product Quality, Food Safety Programs, and sanitary conditions in the plant. Supports without hesitation Safety, GFSI, Food Safety, Food Defense, and GMPs with an understanding that these absolutes are our top priority.
  4. Monitors the quality of all products manufactured at the facility and assists production team leaders in correcting defects, with emphasis on process control.
  5. Maintains and improves plant quality and food safety policies/systems and ensures adherence and review throughout the facility.
  6. Coordinates and maintains a HACCP program for the plant; serves as a member of the HACCP team.
  7. Assists in resolving consumer complaints and supplier disruptions regarding plant products, maintaining necessary records. May meet with vendors, customers, quality representatives, and other staff to discuss and resolve quality issues.
  8. Ensures that the company's product "hold" procedures are communicated to staff and followed by the plant. Recommends suspension of production or product release when quality standards are not met.
  9. Responsible for localizing and maintaining formulas and product codes through PLM.
  10. Completes specification deviations and manages supplier disruptions to vendors as needed.
  11. Supports R&D with test batches and data collection.
  12. Trains associates on essential lab tests to ensure consistent product quality. Assists in the training and observation of associates with other team leaders to ensure procedures are followed.
  13. Establishes monitoring procedures to track all products on hold due to performance, micro, packaging, or reprocessing, and makes recommendations for disposition.
  14. Coordinates and executes the environmental monitoring program for the plant.
  15. Participates in or leads quality audits of the plant (GMP/BRC/QMS, etc.). Participates in regular meetings with plant management to discuss quality improvements and ensures compliance with GMP and safety standards.
  16. Maintains and reports required operational information to management. Ensures all quality-related information needed for regulatory reviews and reporting is maintained.
  17. Keeps up to date with manufacturing technologies, systems, and quality control practices. Maintains a thorough understanding of all products manufactured, including raw materials, packaging materials, and operations involved.
  18. Ensures the plant allergen program is clearly understood, supported, and followed.
  19. Implements and supports quality and food safety improvement projects.
  20. Performs capability studies.
  21. Conducts data analysis, trending reports, and action plans.
  22. Participates in TPM teams as needed.
  23. Performs other related responsibilities to support Rich Products Corporation's business objectives.

Knowledge, Skills, and Experience

* BA/BS degree in Biology, Food Science, or related field preferred. If the candidate does not have a BA/BS, a combination of education, training and experience that results in demonstrated competency to perform the work may be substituted.
* 3 years supervisory experience in a food-processing, pharmaceutical or chemical manufacturing organization, preferably using computerized manufacturing equipment.
* HACCP, PCQI, Food Defense Coordinator certified.
* Sanitation background.
* Good interpersonal and communication skills.
* Organized and detail oriented.
* Comfortable working in a fast-paced, participative team environment.
* Ability to work under pressure multitask, and problem solve.
* Demonstrated knowledge and application of statistical process control, quality assurance techniques and tools, and quality management principles in a food, chemical, or pharmaceutical manufacturing environment. Statistical training and Certified Quality Engineer preferred.
* Sanitary Design training preferred.
* Working knowledge of FDA regulations, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), HACCP, food allergens and pest control.
* Demonstrated knowledge of efficient and safe manufacturing operations to include product and associate safety, OSHA standards, product quality (success rates), and cost control (minimizing downtime and waste, optimizing yield).
* Demonstrated ability to direct, coach, and train associates as well as plan, monitor and schedule work.
* Demonstrated ability to analyze and resolve problems.
* Demonstrated mechanical and spatial aptitude, including the ability to disassemble and reassemble equipment.
* Proficient using Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, SAP, PLM, and QDMS.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
* Will be required to perform tasks such as lifting up to 50 pounds, walking, standing, climbing, reaching, stooping, pulling, pushing, grasping, and balancing as part of production activities on the floor. Will be required to see and hear well enough to understand Associates questions and respond to their concerns. May be required to work in freezers, near dusty environment, near noisy machinery, near confined spaces as part of daily production activities.

COMPENSATION

In accordance with state law, the rate or range provided is Rich Products Corporation, its subsidiaries and affiliates ("Rich's"), reasonable estimate of the base compensation for this role. The actual amount may be higher or lower, based on non-discriminatory factors such as experience, knowledge, skills, abilities, shift differential, and location.

Annual Range/Hourly Rate

$61,011.60-$82,545.11
