We are currently seeking a Working Foreman - Forklift Operations to join our team in Emporia, Virginia.

This position combines hands-on forklift operation with crew leadership responsibilities. The ideal candidate will be an experienced forklift operator who can safely and efficiently move materials while coordinating daily activities, directing team members, maintaining productivity, and ensuring all work is completed safely and according to company standards.

  • Safely operate forklifts and other material handling equipment to load, unload, transport, and stage materials.
  • Lead and direct a crew of employees in daily operational activities.
  • Assign tasks, monitor work performance, and ensure productivity goals are met.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact between field employees and management.
  • Train and mentor new employees on equipment operation, safety procedures, and job expectations.
  • Conduct pre-shift meetings and communicate daily work plans and safety requirements.
  • Monitor workflow and adjust manpower and equipment utilization as needed.
  • Perform routine equipment inspections and report maintenance needs promptly.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, customer requirements, and safety regulations.
  • Maintain accurate records of daily activities, equipment inspections, and operational issues.
  • Assist with loading, unloading, inventory movement, and general labor duties as required.
  • Promote a positive work environment focused on teamwork, accountability, and safety.


Requirements:


  • Proven experience operating forklifts in an industrial, rail, logistics, warehouse, or transloading environment.
  • Previous experience leading crews, supervising employees, or serving as a team lead preferred.
  • Strong understanding of safe material handling practices.
  • Ability to coordinate multiple tasks and prioritize work effectively.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills.
  • Ability to identify and resolve operational issues quickly.
  • Strong commitment to workplace safety and compliance.
  • Ability to work independently while maintaining accountability for crew performance.
  • Minimum 3-5 years of forklift operating experience.
  • Prior supervisory, lead, or foreman experience preferred.
  • Forklift certification or ability to obtain certification.
  • Ability to lift up to 75 lbs and work in various weather conditions.
  • Reliable transportation.
  • Ability to work flexible schedules, including overtime and weekends as needed.
  • Strong attendance and dependability record.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in rail, transloading, logistics, or industrial operations.
  • Experience coordinating crews of 3-10 employees.
  • Knowledge of equipment inspections and basic maintenance procedures.
  • OSHA or other safety training certifications are a plus.
