Armstrong World Industries (AWI) has a job opportunity for a Boardmill Production Supervisor to be located in Macon, GA. reporting to the Value Stream Manager, the Boardmill Production Supervisor is responsible for leading and managing the daily production of one of our manufacturing lines. The Boardmill Production Supervisor will work on a schedule that rotates over three shifts and will require overtime and weekend work.

 

Key Responsibilities of the Boardmill Production Supervisor:

  • Leading, managing and training a crew of approximately 15 production workers
  • Ensuring production goals are met or exceeded, including yield, throughput and quality
  • Promoting and ensuring a safe work environment and environmental compliance
  • Preparing daily production schedules and ensuring schedule adherence
  • Applying Lean manufacturing best practices and driving continuous improvement with people and processes
  • Effectively managing operations while meeting budgetary goals
  • Partnering with maintenance and engineering to optimize equipment performance and reliability and assisting with Lean projects
  • Maintaining employee schedules, time keeping, accountability and discipline for performance and participating in the hiring process if necessary

 

Required Qualifications for the Boardmill Production Supervisor:

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • 3+ years of experience leading and motivating a diverse group of employees
  • Excellent working knowledge of safety and environmental practices and regulations, including OSHA compliance
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal

 

Desired Qualifications for the Boardmill Production Supervisor:

  • Bachelor's or technical degree in a related field
  • Industrial manufacturing experience

 

About the Location (Macon, GA)

 

Our Macon Plant, one of six Armstrong ceiling plants, employs approximately 435 people working on rotating shifts, 24/7, in the manufacture and shipment of acoustical ceiling tile to Armstrong's customers.  Located approximately 85 miles south of Atlanta, the Macon facility has 33 acres under one roof, or 1.5 million square feet of floor space.  It is the largest ceiling tile factory in the world.  The operations are complex, automated, use the latest modern management technology, and manufacture a wide range of commercial and residential ceiling products.
