Responsible for formulating new products, reformulating existing products, qualifying alternative raw materials, reviewing and/or updating manufacturing procedures, and setting up test methods.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include, but not limited to, the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Develop new product formulas.
  • Update existing product formulas.
  • Test formulations and products for quality.
  • Conduct QC tests for raw materials and finished goods.
  • Correct production batches to meet QC specifications.
  • Evaluate new raw materials.
  • All other duties as assigned.


This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) from four-year college or university in Chemistry or Bio-Chemistry and three to five years of experience with one or a combination of cleaning products, compounds and waxes, cosmetics or related fields.


Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from managers, customers, regulatory agencies, or member of the business community.


Ability to apply advanced mathematical concepts such as exponents, logarithms, quadratic equations, and permutations. Ability to apply mathematical operations to such tasks as frequency distribution, determination of test reliability and validity, analysis of variance, correlation techniques, sampling theory, and factor analysis.


Must have excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills and ability to organize and manage multiple priorities. Work habits include attention to detail and accuracy, strong work ethic, and self-motivation. Must show innovation, and be able to take initiative. Demonstrates quality management, accuracy and safety and security when handling chemical materials.


Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.


To perform this job successfully, an individual should be proficient in Microsoft Office and Internet.
