Position Summary

The College of Southern Nevada's Office of Institutional Equity & Title IX (OIE) provides leadership and resources that promote CSN's commitment to diversity and equal opportunity. Utilizing a comprehensive and college-wide approach, the OIE conducts investigations in response to complaints of discrimination, sexual harassment, retaliation, and Title IX violations; develops and presents prevention and educational outreach programming and training; and advises and counsels the campus community on items related to discrimination, sexual harassment, retaliation, and Title IX. Under the general direction of the Director of Employee Relations, Institutional Equity & Title IX Coordinator, this position supports Office of Institutional Equity & Title IX programs and initiatives to include conducting administrative investigations, developing and conducting education and prevention programs and trainings, and advises and counsels all levels of the organization on matters relating to sexual harassment, discrimination, retaliation, and sexual misconduct. This position also shares general responsibility for supporting and advancing the College's commitment to providing safe and secure educational and workplace environments that are free from discrimination and harassment.

Duties and Responsibilities of this position include but are not limited to:

 

 

  • Conduct complex and comprehensive investigations related to complaints alleging sexual harassment, discrimination, retaliation, and Title IX violations to include: case file preparation; data tracking/reporting; preparing investigative findings; and recommending appropriate discipline/sanctions based on outcomes.
  • Develop and conduct training, education, and prevention programs related to sexual harassment, discrimination, and Title IX.
  • Actively work to minimize potential adverse impacts within the College community by providing effective guidance and interpretation of policy and procedure.
  • Assist in supporting the College community by serving as a resource to administrators, faculty, staff, students, and visitors regarding OIE-related issues that arise.
  • Assist in reviewing and updating College policies and programs related to items under the purview of the OIE.

 


Required Qualifications

 

 

  • Bachelors degree from a regionally accredited college or university, 2 years of comparable professional experience whichincluded conducting investigations OR an Associate's degree from a regionally accredited college or university and 6 years of comparable professional experience which included conducting investigations.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of federal and state laws related to EEO, Affirmative Action, ADAAA or Title IX.

 


Preferred Qualifications

 

 

  • Demonstrated experience conducting investigations related to Sexual Harassment, Discrimination, or Retaliation.
  • Demonstrated excellence in written and oral communication.
  • Demonstrated experience conducting Title IX investigations.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of and experience with trauma-based investigations.
  • Demonstrated ability and experience with writing complex and comprehensive investigative reports.
  • Demonstrated ability and experience in interpreting and applying federal and states laws related to Sexual Harassment, Discrimination, or Title IX.
  • Demonstrated experience developing and/or assisting with the development of comprehensive Affirmative Action Plans.
  • Experience working in higher education, preferably in areas related to EEO, Affirmative Action, or Title IX.
  • Demonstrated experience with developing and/or presenting education and prevention programs and training related to sexual harassment, discrimination, or Title IX.
  • Demonstrated ability and experience with advising and counseling all levels of an organization on issues related to sexual harassment, discrimination, or sexual misconduct.
  • Title IX investigator training/certification.
  • Experience working with a diverse/multicultural student body and/or workforce.
