The Cyber Security Engineer is responsible for the security of the organization’s computer systems and networks including internal, SaaS, cloud, and B2B environments. The engineer implements security measures that effectively safeguard sensitive data throughout the organization. The role is highly collaborative, involving frequent interaction with various functional areas throughout the company. This role works in collaboration with the information security team to offer support for security tools and technologies such as firewall, proxy server, remote access, and others. This role documents the configurations and network designs to help in the effective execution of the cybersecurity program. They provide full cooperation to the appropriate teams for supporting cyber investigations.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Configures, deploys, and administers security infrastructure. Participates in security initiatives from design to implementation of new technologies with minimal impact to production environment. Implements strategies that balance security recommendations with business needs. Executes on security projects that improve detection and response capabilities. Assists with integrating security controls into new systems and applications.
  2. Performs security assessments for: Applications, Web Applications, Unix Systems, Windows Systems, Routers, Switches, and Firewalls. Responsible for maintenance, monitoring, capacity planning, and 7x24 support of security systems and security related issues. Implements maintenance plans for information security devices. Resolves any issues related to network perimeter and security infrastructure devices.
  3. Identifies vulnerabilities and reduces risk by analyzing processes, network designs, and software designs. This includes existing security services and controls. Utilizes industry best practices, ISO standards, and regulatory requirements to implement security controls and processes to mitigate risk.
  4. Assists in the preventive monitoring of potential information security threats, investigation of alleged information security breaches and, if necessary, drives appropriate response to the breach.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and ABILITIES:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, or related technical or business discipline preferred
  • Achieved or working towards CISSP or other industry recognized certification 
  • 5 to 7 years of experience in technical security roles or 8-10 years of equivalent work related experience in Information Technology/Cybersecurity area
  • Experience with firewalls, application firewalls, IPS/IDS systems, DLP, Web Content Filtering, and VPN systems
  • Administrative and security expertise with all versions of Windows and Windows Server and Unix variants
  • Advance LAN network experience including design, troubleshooting, and security
  • System administration experience in a production environment
  • Experience in assessing designs related to networks, operating systems, and applications
  • Experience across one or more cybersecurity domains of knowledge including: Cybersecurity Threat, Information Security Governance, Identity and Access Management, Infrastructure Security, Cloud Security, Cyber Fraud, Data Protection, Application Security, Insider Threat
  • Self-motivation, discipline, task focus, and a proven record of delivering high quality results within strict deadlines as well as within budget
  • Conceptual thinking and analytical skills
  • Ability to measure and monitor development metrics and demonstrate continuous improvement
  • Ability to effectively plan time, method, manner and sequence of work assignments while balancing potentially conflicting demands from stakeholders
