Our expertise is the design and manufacture of communications-based specialty products – engineered components and subsystems – for demanding military, space, commercial aerospace/industrial, and telecom infrastructure applications where function and reliability are crucial.

 

Primary Function:

This position is primarily responsible for supporting the ERP system, Oracle and SQL Server databases while ensuring their performance, availability and security.  Additional responsibilities include the development of reports using Microsoft SQL Server Reporting Services, the development of Windows applications using Microsoft Visual Basic .NET

 

Essential Functions/Responsibilities:

DBA Functions

  • Main responsibility is to configure and maintain ERP Oracle database, including implementation and management of security roles, performance tuning, database backup, and recovery.
  • Responsible for ERP application support and performance.
  • Responsible for ensuring availability and performance of the databases through proactive monitoring of the database systems.
  • Work with the IT team to ensure that the associated hardware resources allocated to the databases ensure high availability and optimum performance.
  • Responsible for improvement and maintenance of the databases and ERP to support rollout and upgrades.
  • Responsible for implementation and release of database changes as submitted by the development team.
  • Plans, coordinates and implements security measures to prevent damage, unauthorized modification or disclosure of data, taking into account Sarbanes-Oxley mandates and requirements.
  • Reviews project requests to estimate time and costs.

 

 Database Programming Functions

  • Trace and debug ERP database code when errors occur to suggest fixes to expedite the process of getting updates from vendor via trouble tickets.
  • Develop reports using Microsoft SQL Server Reporting Services and ERP advanced queries.
  • Assist users with custom created queries and/or reports.
  • Create automated data feeds for both internal and external use using PL/SQL or SQL Server Integration Services.

 

Additional Responsibilities

  • Preparation of procedures and documentation for Sarbanes-Oxley compliance in the IT Department.
  • Recommend, schedule and perform software improvements and upgrades for optimal performance of company workstations.
  • User account maintenance and application configuration via Oracle and ERP provided utilities.
  • SDLC for the ERP system and associated Databases
  • Understand basic business process modeling
  • Ability to perform gap analysis

     

    Programming Responsibilities

       These functions are secondary in nature.

  • Develop Windows/Web applications using Visual Basic .NET or C# for internal use.

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Oracle Linux
  • Oracle 10G Database Server and higher
  • SQL Server
  • PL/SQL
  • Support ERP applications and systems
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to actively participate in cross-functional and departmental team based projects.

Education and/or Experience:

  • Must be a US person (US Citizen or Permanent Resident (Green Card Holder)
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or Information Technology from an accredited college or university is required.
  • At least five years of experience in Oracle (10g-12c) and SQL Server (2008-2017) database administration and database programming (PL/SQL,SQL,SSIS) is required.
  • Experience using a revision control system for software/report development is preferred (preferably Team Foundation Server  or Microsoft Visual SourceSafe).
  • PL/SQL and Microsoft SQL Server Reporting Services experience is highly preferred.
  • Experience with Sarbanes-Oxley compliance is required.
  • Experience developing object-oriented software using Visual Basic .NET or C# is preferred.
  • Experience supporting ERP systems is a plus ( IFS, Oracle EBS).
  • Experience with SQL Server Integration Services is a plus.

  • Exposed to moving mechanical parts, and low voltage electrical circuits while on the manufacturing floor.
  • Occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, moving mechanical parts, extreme cold, and extreme heat.
  • Required to wear appropriate personal protective equipment when in restricted manufacturing areas.

 

Work Schedules:

  • Normal work hours are 8 am to 5 pm.
  • Position works odd or off schedule hours on an occasional basis.
  • Normal workdays are Monday through Friday.
  • Lunch period is one hour per day, unpaid.
  • Occasional domestic travel may be required.
