Armstrong World Industries, Inc. (AWI) has a job opportunity for an Electrical Systems Engineer to be located in Pensacola, FL. The Electrical Systems Engineer will be responsible for managing the power distribution systems throughout the facility, developing and maintaining the electrical systems for process equipment associated with maintenance work to include programming changes and adherence to the National Electrical Code, power distribution – both high and low voltage. Additionally, the Electrical Systems Engineer will be responsible for leading and managing the effective day to day activities along with the training and development of electrical maintenance employees.

 

Key Responsibilities of the Electrical Systems Engineer:

  • Leading an effective and efficient maintenance function to achieve operational performance objectives
  • Developing and leading the training of electrical technicians as applicable to ensure continuous improvement of craftsmen skills
  • Increasing Plant Reliability by the effective application of maintenance systems and processes
  • Leading the application of maintenance and engineering “best practices” and fundamentals throughout the facility
  • Developing and leading the application of Precision, Predictive, and Preventive Maintenance concepts in maintenance systems
  • Leading maintenance process improvement activities to drive results
  • Increasing effectiveness and productivity of maintenance craftsman
  • Understanding performance requirements of the plant and its impact on financial performance
  • Understanding the maintenance budgeting process and providing performance data to budgeting process
  • Leading, developing and executing a living 5 year plan around the plant’s electrical infrastructure and future electrical needs by participating in Value Stream Mapping sessions, interacting with the Capital Manager and the engineering team, and working with the corporate Energy Management team
  • Applying Root Cause Failure Analysis to ensure proper solutions to maintenance issues are implemented
  • Applying Lean tools and strategies to drive uptime and the health of the process through daily participation in Gemba walks, Maintenance Blitzes, and Kaizen events

 

Required Qualifications for the Electrical Systems Engineer:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or similar field
  • 3+ years’ experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Microsoft Office experience
  • Demonstrated ability in leading teams or improvement projects
  • Industrial automation experience required, including:
    • PLC
    • HMI
    • Variable Frequency Drives
    • Servo Systems
    • Instrumentation & Controls

 

Desired Qualifications for the Electrical Systems Engineer:

  • 5+ years’ experience in a process manufacturing environment in an electrical engineering or technical craftsman position
  • Previous supervisory experience
  • SAP experience
  • Familiarity with Robotics and Plant Power Distribution
  • Understanding of the National Electrical Code with emphasis on NFPA 70e
