Job Description:

Harris is seeking a talented functional engineering management professional to join our Electronic Systems market segment at our Harris Technology Center in Palm Bay, FL.

As a functional leader, the Engineering Manager is responsible for leading an organization of approximately 60 Engineering employees with specialties in Antenna, RF/Microwave, and controls engineering analysis, detailed design, integration, and subsystem test.  This includes supervision and leading of the Antenna/RF Engineering organization including planning, development, and execution of Antenna/RF Engineering tasking on projects, pursuits, and programs. 

Key Accountabilities:

  • Meet functional requirements of staffing, training, talent development, engagement, retention, and overall management of Antenna/RF Engineering department / function. 
  • Provide staffing for programs, pursuits, and internal efforts (IR&D, Special Projects, etc.) within ES for all Antenna/RF Engineering needs.  This may involve working with Engineering Managers in other geographic locations to support business demands outside Florida.
  • Review and approve functional cost proposals and monitor functional execution to facilitate successful programs.
  • Meet Functional organization AOP budgets.
  • Advance Antenna/RF Engineering technologies as appropriate to ensure tools, processes, and staff are competitive within industry. 
  • Perform risk assessments on programs within the ES and throughout the corporation as needed.
  • Support pursuits and proposals in the business, including review/approval of technical proposals and Basis of Estimates (BOEs) as needed. 
  • Manage the Antenna and RF Core Technology Center for ES.


  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related field and 10+ years of professional experience.
  • Experience in an engineering leadership capacity.
  • Experience mentoring/coaching less experienced team members.
  • Prior experience managing or assisting with program staffing initiatives.
  • Background in RF/Antenna engineering.
  • Must be able to obtain a government security clearance. 

Preferred Additional Skills:

  • Active secret security clearance preferred.
  • Advanced degree is a plus.
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver and sustain measurable results.
  • Ability to coach, mentor and build relationships with external organizations.
  • Self-starter; problem solver; customer focus.
  • Ability to clearly and succinctly convey information and ideas, including strong executive communication and presentation skills.
  • High expectations for sustained excellence for self and team members.
  • Proactively seek feedback and initiative to continually improve.
