The Global Donor Relations Manager will provide leadership and direction to IFAW’s worldwide Donor Relations team in support of IFAW’s fundraising strategy and institutional goals. This passionate and enthusiastic professional will direct, manage and monitor IFAW’s worldwide Donor Relations operations, systems, and business practices, through direct and indirect line management. Working with the worldwide Donor Relations Management team, this role establishes and implements departmental best practices, ensures operational efficiencies, and adherence to service level standards.

 

This position will interface with leaders throughout the organization in Development, Programs, and Marketing & Communications as well as Country/Regional offices.  This position will also work closely with Development Directors and Managers to support institutional goals and implement new and revised policies.

 

Role and Responsibilities

  • Enhance and oversee the global Donor Relations stewardship strategy, in support of IFAW’s Institutional goals and fundraising strategies, by leading the global team in providing exceptional customer care through strong internal communication and collaboration with Development managers. 
  • Direct the Donor Relations team in providing exceptional customer care to IFAW supporters, reinforcing and strengthening public perceptions of IFAW’s brand.  Provide ongoing guidance, direction, motivation, and mentoring to the International Donor Relations Management team.
  • Support Development leadership, as needed, with local best practices regarding Donor Relations and Compliance.   Assist with information gathering on Donor experiences and communication strategies and report back to Development leadership.  Make recommendations to modify and adjust programs, as needed and required.
  • Support both Direct and Online Marketing Leadership in the execution of all Marketing strategies through managing priorities and time management in response to marketing campaigns. Maintain an awareness of the marketing calendar and provide support and feedback regarding supporter experience.
  • Expand, as necessary, reporting and analytical tools to measure Donor Relations performance to maximize efficiencies and inform strategy.
  • Work with internal stakeholders to ensure that the Donor Relations team has the required collateral materials, talking points and key messaging to have valuable, transparent contact with supporters.
  • Responsible for the execution of the gift acknowledgement program in each country
  • Improve Worldwide Donor Relations operations by identifying and implementing process improvements with the objective of maximizing efficiencies and reducing operating costs.
  • Maintain an in-depth knowledge of supporter database functions, processes, and procedures. Identify and define system capabilities required to meet departmental business objectives.  Educate global team on proper use of coding structure and monitor implementation.  Provide support to Donor Relations Managers with complex supporter database entries as needed.
  • In conjunction with Country Office Directors and Donor Relations Managers, develop and manage the Donor Relations team’s annual operating budget. 
  • Lead Worldwide Donor Relations Management team meetings.

 

Qualifications and Education Requirements

  • 7+ years of non-profit sector experience, including substantial experience customer/donor service management.
  • A university or college degree preferred.
  • Experience with Team Approach, Blackbaud, Salesforce or other international consumer relationship management databases a must.
  • Demonstrated ability to build, manage, and motivate teams/staff.
  • Demonstrated track record of implementing fundraising and stewardship activities in a customer/donor service environment to drive supporter loyalty, retention, net income, and long term value.
  • Proficient in budgeting, reporting, analytics and donor information data management.
  • Demonstrated ability to successfully deliver initiatives and projects across geographically separated teams.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to develop and maintain successful interpersonal relationships with supporters, staff, and all levels of management and across continents.
  • Multi-lingual a plus; not required.
  • Demonstrated ability to balance direction with diplomacy.
  • International experience and understanding of cultural differences strongly preferred.
  • Empathy with the cause of animal welfare and a strong commitment to promoting IFAW’s mission.
  • Domestic and International travel is required.
