Position Summary



  • College of Southern Nevada is a multi-campus institution, with libraries located on three main campuses. Under the direction of the assigned supervisor, this position performs duties in support of the operation of College of Southern Nevada Libraries that house and provide access to a variety of materials in a variety of formats. The incumbent duties include, but are not limited to: performing technical, paraprofessional and administrative duties within one or more functional area of the library including acquisitions; cataloging; collection maintenance; and document delivery/interlibrary loan. Travel between campuses may be required based on organizational needs.


Essential responsibilities include, but are not limited to:



  • Receiving and processing library materials, such as monographs and media, for all CSN libraries.
  • Performing high quality copy cataloging of library resources utilizing Ex Libris' ALMA, OCLC Connexion, WorldShare Management, and MarcEdit software.
  • Conducting ongoing catalog maintenance by revising, updating, merging and deleting existing records in accordance with library rules and standards.
  • Loading MARC record files with updated holdings for selected electronic databases, e-books, and online subscriptions.
  • Selecting and submitting GOBI standing orders for Controversial Issues collections.
  • Updating and cancelling GOBI orders/PO Lines in Alma LSP.
  • Preparing shipments of library materials to OCLC Contract Cataloging location as well as shipments of lending and returns materials for Interlibrary Loan Department, in accordance with library mailing policies.
  • Performing backup duties and responsibilities for Interlibrary Loan Department, including Document Delivery and all lending and borrowing functions in Illiad, DOCLINE and other platforms.
  • As a backup for Interlibrary Loan supervisor, providing exceptional customer services to participants of the eight regions in the National Network of Libraries of Medicine.
  • Assisting in maintaining excellent working relationships with other NSHE libraries, DOCLINE partners, etc., as well as providing excellent customer services to Faculty, students and other libraries.


Required Qualifications



  • Graduation from high school or equivalent education and two years of increasingly responsible experience working in a library; OR one year of experience as a Library Assistant III in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.


Preferred Qualifications



  • Experience using Ex Libris' Alma Library Services Platform (LPS).
  • Knowledge of Library of Congress classification system.
  • Experience working with and/or knowledge of bibliographic records, such as MARC 21.
  • Experience working with Patron Requests in library services platform (LPS), integrated library system (ILS) or in Interlibrary Loan (ILL).


Starting Salary Range

Grade 27, Step 1 - Grade 27, Step 10

$35,725.68 - $52,032.96
