Job Title: Logistics Packaging Engineer

 

POSITION PURPOSE

The Logistics Packaging Engineer has the overall responsibility for developing/redesigning packaging for AGCO Logistics and Manufacturing globally to optimize packaging, storage, and transportation. These initiatives will deliver significant cost reductions on both Domestic and International inbound freight to our Manufacturing/Service Parts Operations in North America.

 

MAJOR ACCOUNTABILITY

  • Develop and execute cost reduction packaging projects
  • On-site packaging engineering support at manufacturing sites (Jackson/Hesston/GSI/Batavia)
  • Oversee Sustainable Packaging program (manufacturing/packaging waste reduction)
  • Develop Returnable container program
  • Work in partnership with Purchasing/Quality/Engineering teams
  • Develop/maintain Global Packaging Standards
  • Communicate Specs to Suppliers
  • Load Planning Methods
  • Packaging for New Products/Global Suppliers
  • Performance Reporting

 

FUNCTIONAL KNOWLEDGE/BUSINESS EXPERTISE

This position requires Logistics/Supply Chain Experience in the area of Logistics Packaging. Strong Engineering Packaging Design Skills along with direct experience in developing/implementing a collapsible and reusable container program. Strong Microsoft Office/CAD skills are required and the successful candidate will have demonstrable results in Analytics, Program Management, and Cost Reduction Initiatives. Knowledge of Heavy Equipment Transportation Industry (e.g. Farming/Automotive) is preferred

 

This position will require interaction/leadership skills to work directly with Global Suppliers, Manufacturing Operations, Carriers, and with Senior Management for the Corporation. The Logistics Packaging Engineer will give direction to suppliers regarding Global Packing Program standards. This position requires upfront domestic travel (~25%), possibly international travel as well.

 

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • 3 years in the development of Logistics/Supply Chain Packaging Program Management with demonstrated results in Cost Reduction Initiatives.
  • Microsoft Office
  • ERP working knowledge required
  • Negotiation skills
  • Bachelor's Degree Packaging Engineer or Industrial Engineering (Required)
  • MBA preferred
