Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry. This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.

The Machining Process Engineer will be responsible for the process with the Machinists on the manufacturing floor. You will work closely with the team to implementing standardized work procedures and work instructions. You will:

  • Design and plan layout for such processes as hardening, washing, laminating, etching, engraving, polishing, plating, and other material-processing operations.
  • Plan sequence of operations and specifies procedures for cutting, crafting, and otherwise preparing basic material, exercising judgment in compromising between conflicting requirements, economic evaluation of methods, and operator efficiency and amenity.
  • Conduct tests and measurements throughout stages of production to determine control over such variables as temperature, density, specific gravity, pressure, and viscosity.
  • Establish and submits processing requirements to be met in crafting and acquiring processing equipment.
  • Work on problems of moderate scope where analysis of situations or data requires a review of identifiable factors.
  • Exercise judgment within defined procedures and practices to determine appropriate action.
  • Encompass the application of scientific and technological principles concerned with a continuous or periodic system of operations or activities in the production of manufactured products.


Must Have Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in Mechanical Engineering
  • Hands-on CNC machining experience
  • LEAN or Six Sigma (green belt)
  • Building and implementing DOEs


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Jump experience or Minitab (statistical tools)
  • GDNT
